Re: Will they notice!

On the other hand, surely the tester can only test/fail what can be seen? If it appears in good condition from the other side of the underseal they surely cannot fail it? As to dirt roads... Did once hear of someone who had a few iffy bits on the underside. They stripped and re sealed the best bit. ...

Re: Windscreen Cracked

A couple of years ago I got a chip sorted in mine, the glass place checked availability of new screens for me, out of interest. They could get one next day from their warehouse if needed, and said that the specialist pilkingtons service mentioned upthread was available and would cost no more than th...

Re: WD-40

I ordered a carton, as you say an excellent price. It arrived whilst I was out and a neighbour took it in - apparently they knew who it was for as soon as they saw it, because "who else in the block would order an entire gallon of WD40?!".

I have a 1kg one in the back of the Capri, bracket screwed in the boot. Also have a first aid kit - plasters, paracetamol, etc. Never know when it's going to come in handy!

Re: Dehumidifier

I am very lucky in that my garage is in the basement of a block of flats and the heating pipes for the flats pass through the garages. This gives just enough heat to stop it being too cold, takes the edge off it to an extent. I've also put two old carpets down on the floor (thanks to having a carpet...

I did chuckle about the editorial along the lines of "you would ask how the event went, because none of you turned up"......!

Luckily Danny there are people like you that are enthusiastic about the older cars :) I also still buy CD's for the record! I also don't get how they've just written off vinyl as it's recently had such a resurgence in popularity they started mass producing them all again And, as it's the only...

Re: Fuse box queries

For the sake of the cost of new fuses (pennies) I replaced them all a few years ago. Several were the wrong rating and most were very fragile, which caused issues.

Re: Horn Location

Doesn't this earth via a bolt into the valance? Might be worth checking that. I seem to remember having an issue which was cleared up by cleaning up the connection.

as it's not far from the battery could check it by putting 12v across it from the terminals with a bit of wire

Re: The pleasure of motoring..

I see lots of dozy motorists going around at night with no lights on except the permanent on front sidelights - nothing on the rear. Is it because they assume the car will do it all for them?

Re: How to remove glass

I believe that windscreens are still available. I had a chip repaired a couple of years ago and, out of curiosity, the chap looked up the availability on their system. They could get one next day if required in a number of different tints etc. Apparently, even if they ever do run out of stock entire...

It is beggers belief the state that some folk drive around in. The number of folk who go around with basic things such as lamps out (very easily noticed and very easily fixed in 3 minutes) astounds me.

Re: Late starting heater

I had a similar odd issue last year after the garage changed my clutch, heater motor would start up when the car war warmed up. Couldn't make head nor tail of it, then noticed an earth strap disconnected. May be worth checking these.
