Re: Injector collars stuck!

Hi Mine were stuck hard and fast too. They are only rubber believe it or not. I blocked the port up with some blue paper towel. I felt if that fell in then it wouldn’t last long. I used a small screwdriver to carefully lever the remains away. They came apart in pieces and it was painstaking. The key...

Re: heard it all now....

We had a girl in my office a few years ago who, when relating stories, would say "so I turned round and said ... " (sorry about the ellipsis!) She must have been dizzy from the number of times she turn around in a conversation with her mates. haha! I knew someone who spoke that way ...

Re: heard it all now....

I would say my biggest pet hate is “I was like...”. It is absolutely everywhere. I’ve noticed if you chew gum you are particularly prone to it. Example being “Tanyaaaaahhh kissed my boyfriend, I was like well angry..” etc I’ve noticed the beeb news online quoting people who say it, hardly helps to e...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

Interesting problem you got there. Yes I see your point. Are the adjusters the same on all mk3 models? I thought they were but then surely they’d need to be different for the different drum sizes. Is it worth getting 2 second hand adjusters from Martin at Capri gear that are correct for the size las...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

I give up!! Fingers crossed the pictures are attached, but I've put the shoes on the other way as you suggested, new springs - including that stupidly tight one at the top, adjustment arm will not go any further in and I've disconnected the rod entirely so it can't affect the tightness, still can't...

Re: Rear axle bearings

Hi guy's, Check out the link below if you haven't already https://www.tickover.co.uk/news_bearings.htm Mr B Hi, This is a good link, I did check this out a while back when I ordered my first set of bearings from them. (I’ve now gone through 2 sets) One of theirs is in and sealing fine on the other ...

Re: Rear axle bearings

Unfortunately it hasn’t worked. However, a friend noted down the part number from a genuine set of eub204 bearings he fitted a while back. It turns out they are made by SKF and are still available. Why pay phone numbers just because it’s in a ford box? The SKF bearing number is 361971ce. I’ve duly o...

Re: Rear axle bearings

Hi guy's, Not sure how relevant this is but I recently bought a second hand 3.0 litre axle off eBay, upon closer inspection I noticed that the axle breather was missing, getting a new one was a nightmare I eventually found a Morris marina breather and adapted it to fit the axle, however during my r...

Re: Rear axle bearings

It appears the oil is tracking between the outer race and the axle casing. I’ve bought some loctite 641 which is designed to seal bearing outer races to recesses. Basically exactly where the oil is coming from. When I inserted the half shaft back into the axle I was able to push the whole thing in f...

Re: Rear axle bearings

Resurrecting an older thread. I’m continuing to have problems with a leak on the N/S. I replaced both bearings at the same time with some from Tickover taking into account what has been said above about the seal either not being present or poor. The O/S has sealed beautifully and is ok. The N/S leak...

If the day ever comes when knowledgeable members of this forum cannot point out dangerous stupidity then we will be failing every human being on this earth who ever goes near a road. Absolutely but no need to go into a rant - originators post edited or not. You’re more likely to be ignored or dismi...

Re: My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

If I had my way everyone would have to have a personal certificate allowing them to own a Capri, that had to be renewed every 12 months. If there was such a certificate I doubt anyone on this forum would recommend that you were issued one. I certainly wouldn't. I recall a time many years ago when y...

Re: 2.8 rotor arm

In our wild and reckless youth a friend of mine and I blew up no less then 2 2.8s on the very basis there was no rev limiter rotor arm fitted. Makes a big mess when an engine throws a rod on a motorway!.. Have ALWAYS fitted limiters since then. Partially as I’ve slowed down now but also spare engine...

Battery cable clips. Help / pics required.

Hi I want to try and tidy up the main positive wire on my 2.8 where it crosses the engine crossmember from the battery to the starter motor. Originally it would have been held on with clips but when I was starting to restore her these were missing so I held the wire up by cable ties which looks a bi...

Re: sunroof stuck

Hi Try tilting it and push up on the back whilst doing it. Go gentle on the handle as I've snapped on before. This should allow access to the adjustment screws as detailed in the haynes manual. I couldn't open mine when I first bought it, it had been laid up a long time, turned out I had a field mou...

Re: Worth complaining

I find it`s now £165 !!!!! Mines £245 a year with AA & that's after over 30 years membership and a being a 'Gold member' No Claims would be a good idea for breakdowns but with only the big three having coverage domination it's never going to happen. I’m a gold member too and have been with them...
