hole

I've got a hand basin tap hole stopper in the driver's side and two big washers with tiny center holes and a bolt through them on the passenger side. The drivers side is acting as a reservoir for water which is getting in through the door seal so I'm tempted to drill a small drain hole in it.

<t>You'll need a square headed tool which fits in the plugs, don't use anything else or you risk damaging the plug. Ask at the local motor shop / Halfords etc. or borrow one from a friendly mechy.<br/> The correct level is the filler plug hole. If you raise the car for access, make sure it stays lev...

flasher

<t>If your flasher is the bi-metallic strip type then the current flowing through it heats up a small metal strip which then bends due to the different expansion rates of the two disimilar metals it's made of, as it bends it breaks the contact at the loose end, current stops flowing, strip cools and...

I found my door leak

<t>it's getting in at the front bottom corner of the driver's door, seeping in between door and rubber seal then running down over top of the back edge of the hard plastic trim & under the edge of the carpet. The top of the carpet stays dry. The water soaks up under the pedal box leading me to t...

Hey Guys

<t>What we' got here is a classic case of difference of opinion. One side - peeps want to go all the way to the line of cones then merge. Other side want each lane to merge in turn as the Yanks do by Law at works. The truck drivers who block the spare lane by cruising beside one in the main line (tha...

<t>to one side on braking could be unbalanced brakes but if it's as bad as you say it would probably be a seized piston in the front caliper, whip the wheels off and try to push each piston back a little into it's cylinder in the caliper using a big flat screwy or similar.Often a spot of heavy braki...

Narrow road

<t>a few cars parked one side, a few on other side, only room for one car and one's coming the other way. You see the other is coming through the gap so you slow a bit and pull left a yard hoping to just cruise through when the car passes. She slows down and stops - wondering what the hell to do nex...

Capri value

Maybe Capris will hold their value in future because they're the only cars you'll be able to buy which don't need fancy servicing, I don't want to pay 45 - 60 and hour each time something goes pop or needs adjusting when I can do it myself for free with a spare bit from out of the shed.

tappet wear

<t>I've just noticed that there are two areas of wear on the contact pad, have you found out why? I reckon the tappet must have moved somehow, was it the post that caused it or maybe a stuck / bent valve. You mention bent valves in your post - what caused that and could you remedy the fault? Valve g...

Went down on

to three cylinders years ago on my first 2.0
270 Kent cam and all the other bits. Crawled to a mate's gaff nearby and whipped the cover off, no.1 exhaust tappet had dropped off it's valve!
'popped it back on, tightened up a few turns then drove away
