Re: New Top Gear DVD...

I've just seen a copy of the DVD. There's not too much Capri action in it :(

You guys might be a little disappointed unfortunately :(

Re: Bumper Repair Which Paint

Thanks for every reply, appreciate them all. I think it's good to show things in progress and/or not going so well, will hopefully help someone out along the way. I repainted my rear bumper in the summer as it had a small area of rust on it. What looked like a fairly straight forward job turned int...

Re: Overheating 2.8

Mine doesn't run that much cooler than yours, usually just above midway on the gauge. Andrew. Just over midway is what I'm aiming for, I seem to remember that's where they should be. When I removed the heads the water jacket on the block seemed clear of any limescale. Most of the rest of the system...

Re: My Capri 2.8 Injection

Definitely sounds worth joining, but it will have to wait till next month now as I've forked out on Foo Fighter tickets this morning for Me and my Son :)

Added to the shopping list with the Janspeed exhaust system and lowered front springs all ready on it :D

Re: Overheating 2.8

Hi Joshy, Thanks for your response. I have tried some rad flush from Halfords but it didn't seem to make any difference, hence I was trying to find something a bit more powerful. I might try flushing the rad through again with the garden hose using some Fairy this time to see if I can shift some mor...

Overheating 2.8

Since owning my Capri for just over a year now I've found that it runs very hot..... When I say hot, it runs just below the red most of the time. In the summer if it looked like it was getting too hot I would put the heater on to try to aid the cooling and it would blow extremely hot. This was in ad...

Hi Mike,

Love the photo's :D

Good day's when you could pass your test then jump straight into a car with the potential to take you over 130 MPH

The youth of today are really missing out :!:

I've been thinking of joining. I'd probably get most of the annual subscription back with the parts discount :!:

Re: £850 mot

Hi Les, There seems to be doubt in your head that this car is a good buy. I would walk away from any car that has a damp interior, unless it was going for a song and I knew I could get my money back in spares if it proved too expensive to restore. If you have a budget of around £4500 you should be a...

Re: My Capri 2.8 Injection

How about the Capri Club National in May? That will be a large gathering of Capris to drool over! Andrew. Didn't know about this one. I've got a mate who lives in Gloucester, so might tap him up for an overnight stay to break the journey up :) He was more of an XR :ford: fan but I'll bet he'll want...

Re: My Capri 2.8 Injection

What area of the country are you in? I hope to see your car in the flesh at a show in the summer! Andrew. I live in Bournemouth, not far from Beaulieu. So I'll be going to Simply Ford in May for deffo :) Also thinking about the Ford Fair, Classic Ford and The Ace Cafe Capri meet. Hope to see some o...

Re: My Capri 2.8 Injection

Cheers Andrew...... Yeah it's the perfect colour for me as I had a black 2.8 back in the 80's, so it had to be black again. Nightmare keeping it looking good, but a price I don't mind paying :D Like you love the Pepperpot alloy's would have preferred the Carla check interior but the Shark grey comes...

Re: 1981 Ford Capri 1.6 'L'

Great looking Capri........... Love those wheels and the grill, but not too sure about the bumpers. IMO they look best with no bumpers, but I'm too scared to go down that route with my Car.

TEL is a Bournemouth registration number, do you know which garage supplied it back in 1980?

Re: 3.0 valve stem seals

Hi Simon,
I'd leave things alone if its not leaving a big smoke screen behind you as you drive down the road :)
Just keep checking the oil level, don't let it get too low and give yourself a load of bigger problems :!:

Re: Power steering

The Corsa B electric power steering seems to be a popular choice as a retro fit power steering upgrade on other Classic and kit cars. Not heard of anyone fitting it on a Capri, but it sounds possible. The power unit is in the column, so I assume you could keep the standard rack and marry it up to th...

Re: 3.0 valve stem seals

Have you done a compression check?

I'm not very familiar with the Essex engine. But experience of with other engines I've found that worn valve stem seals normally smoke on start up then clears fairly quickly. Or sometimes when you decelerate. This doesn't seem to be the case for you.
