...if the cam belt snapped on a 2 litre you'd get away without valve/piston kissy kissy. On a 1.6 - different story, unless it happens at low revs. At any engine speed over about 1500 rpm (lucky stock!) bent valves are the norm. As has already been said, its cheap, its easy so JUST CHANGE IT!!!

<t>I think you misunderstand what "holding on the clutch" means. Find a hill, not even excessively steep, engage first gear, release ALL the brakes and stop the car rolling back or moving forward by holding the clutch at the biting point. You'll need at least 2000 rpm. I guarantee that your clutch w...

Also take it fully apart, don't just loosen it and try and poke the paste in - it won't work. If you ta...

The fuse depends on the type of fuse holder you are using - an in line fuse like in a radio live usually uses a glass fuse. Fuse rating depends on the amps the fan will draw - ...

<t>...really want to hold a manual car on the clutch on a hill - you'd burn the clutch out very quickly. On an auto you want to have it in drive, and hold on the footbrake - when you want to pull away the gearbox will hold you for the split second it takes to move your foot to the accelerator and ac...

<t>...it's nothing like a crack in the block(!!!) and the water is coming fom the front of the engine then it does sound like the water pump has had it. The bearings go and it will then leak water through the front. Unlikely that it's just the gasket leaking as you say its "gushing" not weeping. It'...

<t>..."Practical Classics" magazine (just out) has a full feature on strut top repairs - and their demo car is a mk 3 Capri, as it has been for rear wheel bearings and overhauling front struts in previous issues. I've not done the job myself but the feature makes it seem fairly straightforward if yo...

This is how....
Check the clearance for both valves on one cylinder when the two cam lobes are pointing upwards in a "V". The feeler goes in between the cam and the follower.
Clearances are 0.008in inlet and 0.010 exhaust. These are cold settings.

Brute force?
<t>Might upset the purists here but this is what I'd do...!<br/> Use a breaker bar (most socket sets have them) and suitable socket so you don't bugger the ratchet and get a mate to hold this firmly on the bolt while you fit a long piece of pipe over the end (6 foot makes it easy) and push. The secr...

Why do you need to know?
Your local Ford dealer will make you up a flexible copper pipe to your length that you can bend to shape - 15 notes. The taunus pipe is unlikely to be exactly the right shape or length and will probably break or kink if you try and make it fit.
