Re: Who Remembers?
I've got one the same as the orange bottom one in our spare room. Used to be on my bed when I was a kid.

Re: Queen Square February 2018.
Liked the RS1800 and the Fiesta's but the values are getting silly even on XR2's. I remember buying a year old one back in the late eighties, paid less than £5K. Lovely car in Paris blue - or it was until I split up with my bitch of an ex and she took off with it! Still got my little Mk2 1.1 Pop plu...

What they've done to that Merc is just as big, if not a bigger, crime IMHO. So's the dick that drives it in the advert.

Re: Rust location. Panel needed but no idea of the name
The only person that would make repair panels for that area is Trevor Steadman (Steadspeed) up in Orkney http://www.steadspeedrestorations.epageuk.com/photo_gallery The area is double skinned and the inner wing may well be rotten as well as the reinforcing plate. Most people repair them by cutting o...

If it helps mine's got a solid blue wire going to it. I haven't got a late model wiring diagram to hand, will see what I can find out.
Re: Radiator
Yep, your flanges are there but cowling missing. Whether it makes much difference I don't know, would probably just make the fan draw air through the rad rather than from elsewhere. And it keeps fingers off the fan in theory!

Congrats on your news. Not having children is something I regret in life.
Re: Radiator
Paul. Rang a few places up. Best I could get was 120! For the sake of it a new one would probably be better so I'm going to go down the eBay route.. I seen one on auction last month go for 50 quid, knew I should have dropped a bid lol. :deadhorse: The alloy one in Danny's car does look good. The on...

Re: Who Remembers?
I remember as a kid in the late 60's going with my Uncle Reg to the petrol station in his Morris Oxford estate (the car I learned to drive in) and he asked for 4 gallons - price one pound.

Re: Rear seat backrest removal
If you only want to keep the material dry, then you can easily remove the rear pads by simply undoing the 10mm nut in the middle of the back at the bottom, under the semicircular cut in the rear carpet. Then push the protruding bolt in and lift the pad off the frame. Much easier and no fiddly setti...
Re: Radiator
Letus know how you get on as I've got to get one done sometime in the not too distant future.

Re: Rear seat backrest removal
Cheers mate.
Took the remains of the cover off my 3.0 today and the seats are starting to get a bit of mould on them so stripping out the interior, cleaning it and storing it in the dry from now on until the car is restored.

Re: Radiator
That's what they replace, they re-use the header tank, base and sides and the rest is new.
Re: Radiator
Why don't you see if there is anywhere near you that re-cores existing rads? That may be a cheaper option, but not by much I would expect.

Rear seat backrest removal
To remove the rear seat backrests is it just a case of undoing the two bolts each side where the catch mounts on the wheel arch and the two nuts and bolts in the centre.

If I wanted shackles and u - bolts etc I would ring Martin at Capri Gear or one of the other parts suppliers and see if they've got a good set of used genuine Ford parts.

I know it was late 60's rather than 70's but I still reckon one of if not the best car chase scenes was in Bullet. Classic.
Possibly just beaten by Ronin in the 90's!.

You say it keeps failing the MOT but we may be better able to advise you if you post what it's failed on or if not let us have the reg number so we can look it up on the government MOT website.
