Re: Capri book

Amazon emailed me to say the book wouldn’t get dispatched until the 21st, but got delivery today!!

Not reading it yet until I finish Steve Saxty’s book; a couple of chapters left.

Had a quick flick through and looks as good as the mk1 edition!

Re: Discuss Saxty's Book - The Cars You Always Promised Yourself

Hi Steve, I’m really enjoying your great book bringing back many memories! At the moment I’m on the xr4i story and remember in the late 80s at secondary school; my CDT teacher (technology) who was an avid Ford owner, had a small collection of cars, one being a black XR4i. He always said that his was...

I’ve made the same mistake again by not watching this, as now I can only find a short extract!

While I had a look, I found this alternative review of a young woman driving a Capri for the first time;

Re: Bodies 3.0S

There was an updated version of the book that I brought for far less than that, even the author from another forum, told everyone not to buy at that price! There was no mention of the LHD Capri, but they did use a double for Bodie’s Capri when OWC was damaged; MOO 720V. Another story I heard was whe...

Re: Does anyone know the hidden Capri vs Sierra Story ?

Without reading the new book yet, have Ford considered an affordable GT, like a modern GT70, rivalling the likes of the Alfa 4C, or Elise etc?

With the new GT as fresh as it is, you can tell the DNA from the GT40, would the same format work in a smaller scale?

Just a thought!

Re: Does anyone know the hidden Capri vs Sierra Story ?

Great story and great way of resolving which was best, in the old school way! Thanks for sharing. I read that because the Sierra wasn’t the sales hit it was supposed to be (the styling was too futuristic) and that the mk3 Granada didn’t sell well either; that the cologne factory could continue with ...

So Ed, MB and Ant won’t share the same stage together at the NEC next month?
Like they did last year with Fuzz!

What a shame....I only watched them because the stage was near the CCI stand :D

Nice but prefer the original look too.

To keep the original look though, surely 15” pepperpots should be made now?

Congratulations on your new Capri, great example.

The first time I saw a 2.8i for real was a cardinal red one back in 83 and yours reminds me of it!

Re: Help to identify my Capri

I’ve had another look and there is no mention about vinyl roof codes. Like I mentioned earlier if you contact the mk1 owners club, I think they’d give you a more accurate interpretation of your vin! There was plenty of optional extras available to the mk1 which makes things even more confusing. If y...

Re: Help to identify my Capri

Hi, I recently purchased a book called “Factory Original Ford Capri mk1” and there is a section covering the VIN plates. If yours is a Uk vehicle then 2 in the top line means RHD (after August 1970) otherwise it would mean LHD before that date. H = 3000, 5 = manual gearbox, R = 3.22:1 standard axle,...

Re: 2.8 alloy cam gear

Hi, If it was me then I’d change it because I’ve been told that when they go, they ruin everything! Seen as you are going to put a lot of work into your engine and adding more power, the new cam gear should last a very long time. I’m not sure which is the best type to go for so am interested in what...
