On-Car Wheel Balancing

Hi Everyone, Has anyone ever had their wheels balanced on the car? A friend of mine swears it's the solution I'm looking for to cure a slight vibration through the steering wheel. The problem is, the nearest place I have found that can perform such a task is in Bicester, 202 miles away! Before I giv...

Re: 2.8 Propshaft

Hi Everyone, I've decided that probably the best course of action is to have my prop reconditioned and balanced. I've just spoken to a very knowledgeable man at Dave Mac Propshafts in Coventry, who appeared to know all there is to know about the Capri propshaft. An encouraging sign! My question is, ...

Re: Car Pulling - Diagnosis

Hi, I've had a quick scan through the recent issues of the CCI magazine and found this question from the December 2013 issue which you might find useful: "I've owned my Brooklands 280 since it was two years old, and the steering has always pulled slightly to the left which I now (at last) find ...

Re: Car Pulling - Diagnosis

Hi, Good to hear that you are methodically working your way through all the potential causes of the problem. As you probably know, exchanging the PAS rack is quite a quick and easy job and the difference it makes to the feel of the steering is astounding, especially so if your old rack has been on t...

Re: Kent Capri Club

Hi Neil,
Check the location of all Capri clubs on this map:
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=21 ... dg=feature
I think that this map is up to date, and the Kent club is still listed.

Re: 2.8 Propshaft

Should be no play at all in the cv joint. It will cause judder on power take up. Hi Martin, Thanks for your reply. I have been experiencing that, but assumed the problem there was with the clutch. Hmmm, you might just be on to something... I guess a call to Capri Gear is in order tomorrow.:) Andrew.

Re: my car

Would have been my first meet as well but hope to be able to pop along to another meet. Hi Nick, Pardon me for barging in, but this is a good website for planning which shows to go to: http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/ There may be some good shows that are local to you that you didn't know about, bu...

Re: wiring loom tape in engine compartment

I was a bit confused why you were being so insulting about the floor in the room where the cooking is done belonging to elliecharlie2008     Hopefully most people will realise it was the forum filter that changed the word. I wasn't being rude, it's a perfectly nice floor in the...

Re: 2.8 Propshaft

Hi Steve, Thanks for your reply. To quote Mr. Haynes, it's a "two piece tubular, with two Hardy-Spicer type universal joints and one constant velocity centre joint, centre support bearing". Just to clarify, the 2.8 prop is in two parts. The front part has a flange on the end which connects...

2.8 Propshaft

Hi Everyone, Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be a small amount of play in the centre bearing of the propshaft? When I push the rear part by the joint here: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/me_and_the_major/Rubbish/20140610_160104_zps44f1bcf3.jpg There is some play and a 'click' soun...

That spam filter has kicked in again! You know what I mean, the floor of the room in the house where the cooking is done. :)

Hi,
Also, seeing the wiring loom on the kitchen floor shows how intricate the loom is for such a basic car, in terms of electrical equipment! :)

Re: Car Pulling - Diagnosis

I don`t believe that`s true - if it`s all working they`re perfectly balanced. In 30 years mine has never pulled (to the side that is  ) I agree with that. The car should track and brake in a straight line if all is well. I doubt that the power steering rack imbalance is contributing to the car...

Hi, The power rack imbalance can be adjusted. Check out this other thread: http://www.fordcapriforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=41409&hilit=power+steering+adjustment The important bit is reproduced here for your benefit! :) No need to go to that site, it's all here..... The following art...

Re: wiring loom tape in engine compartment

Now I know this may sound like a pretty darn silly question but I gonna take a risk of being lynched and come right out and ask it.... Sometimes in life you just have to be brave and ask away ! Hi Nick, There's no such thing as a silly question. There's stuff you already know and if you don't know ...
