Could you also try brazing it or soldering?
Probably a good idea to empty the fuel tank first mind :xd:

Re: Removing Driver Side Door- Capri Mk3

Not essential to take the steering wheel off, but makes it so much easier to get at. It's held on by a 22mm nut. Once that's off, you may find the wheel is stuck on the splines. Place left hand behind the wheel at 9 o'clock position. Place right hand in front of the wheel at 3 o'clock. Strike simul...

Re: average cost for a rover v8 conversion

How long is a bit of string :) Can't give you a guide price I'm afraid, but it certainly won't be cheap if you can find someone to take it on. There was a few companies that did this as an off-the-shelf conversion back in the 90's but I don't know if any still exist or if they do whether they still ...

... also the cars not jacked up i just turned the wheel full lock to right and laided down underneath with the camera. :D I don't think there should be that much movement in the spring if it's under load (i.e. the weight of the car is on it's wheels) should there? Are you sure this spring is a matc...

Re: Lane Closures

It's quite common to see that these days when one set of roadworks is near another lot, the whole section between the two is closed down as well. Frustrating to say the least. This I can kind of understand as the most hazardous areas of any controflow / lane closure are going to be the transitions....

Re: Car Tax Rules

Also, beware with the new rules, unless you can prove the car was never used on the road after it transferred ownership if you don't tax it straight away you'll be issued an automatic fine. It's the one part of the new system that I think is flawed. With the old system you could sell a car with time...

Nope, not me. Nice to see how many Cappa's are still about in Bristol tho. Usually see one every couple of weeks!

Love it. This time of year is great. So exciting to start seeing all the great classics coming out of their winter hibernation! Hi Damajin, If you're in Bristol, do you ever go down to see the cars in Queen square? Great selection of classics being used there. Andrew. I've been trying to get down t...

C___GOV Spotted in Bristol Friday night

Hi, Coming back from picking up my cousin from the airport, I spotted (and followed for a while) a lovely 2.8 Injection with plate C___GOV and wondered if it was anyone on here. If so, I was the loonatic waving at you at the Eastgate / Fishponds roundabout! I struggle to control myself when I see Ca...

Re: This Land Rover master cylinder business...

The master cylinder needs to be matched to the brake setup you have. For a start you need to have the 2.0 servo for a start as this has the correct bolt spacing for the LR master cylinder to fit. The 1.6, 2.8 and 3.0 used a girling not ATE master cylinder from memory which have a different bolt spac...

Not that one. I've got this one: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-ctj2500qlg-2-5-tonne-aluminium-garage-j It's really very good. - Twin cylinder for fast lift (5 pumps to full lift when not loaded) - really controllable drop by twisting the handle. This was the issue with my...

Re: rip off merchants on flee bay

I would also question the term 'rip off' that is often used. Some people do try to exploit the market on occasion but it is up to the buyer if he wants to be 'exploited'. I see a 'rip off' as when you don't get want you think you are buying - maybe the sender was second hand or didn't work, that so...

Re: what rad do I use ? 5.7 chevy in a mk3

For that sort of application I'd suggest going with a custom build. I used a company called RadTec, if you speak to Keith he will work with you to put together a rad to suit your needs. If it helps, mine was based on the Dax Tojeiro rad they do which is designed for a V8. Mine is mounted upside-down...

Re: Can people give me opinions please?

Been a long while since I posted but couldn't resist chipping in to say that a Capri is a lot of fun with a V8 :D Mine has a 3.9 litre Rover running with an Edelbrock 500 carb on Offenhauser 360 manifold with Mallory ignition. I'd second that. Mine's a 4.1 with fast road can, a Holley 500 carb, the...

Re: VW Golf Driven Through Water

Thanks for the replies, will look into those areas. It does sound like a misfire but car was perfect before the puddle, and instantly low on power/juddery straight after. I am inclined to think it's exhaust/sensor related. Water in the connection to the coilpack as a result of a big SPLASH could a ...
