Re: Tappity engine

Thanks for the info guys. And for the videos Jimmy. One thing missing from a lot of these classic car programmes is a how to spot, a mechanical section, etc. You could be that man!

Re: 10/40 Oil Recommendation

Hey Paul I think I will try to recreate this advert on the K I T C H E N worktop for Mrs Fordoholic Nick. When I pour my Castrol GTX 10/40 over the can so it runs down the side of the can onto the worktop then into my spanner, I am sure she will be just as excited as me :) Make sure you film it Nick!

Re: Dipstick wont go all the way in!

oh, duh...just seen that yours is 40cm too. That was just a pic off the internet to show the correct style of dipstick, though I assume the length shown would be correct also? As Steve says you really need to verify that you have the correct one before doing things like removing the sump. In fact i...

Re: Tappity engine

Removing will just stop engine firing and throwing oil everywhere. One thing I've wondered with this method (as I've never done it), do you still need to expect a splattering of oil everywhere from the spray bar etc. as you test it? Is it a case of covering everything and everyone with sheets, or w...

I'm with Andrew, Father Christmas brings goodies, time off work, better TV shows and lots of food and drink. If you don't believe then you don't get any of that!

Re: 10/40 Oil Recommendation

Just thread just has me thinking loads about the old TV advert where the oil runs down the side of the can. Used to fascinate me that did. Anyone else remember it?

Re: 10/40 Oil Recommendation

It's a decent guess at it Steve, but who knows. I bought some GTX at my local car shop today by the way, thanks again for the recommendation.

(Thanks also for PM heads up, with having no notification I did miss it. Will e-mail reply)

Great, I hope that "certain age" is 41!
Oh I don't know, could be a little too young that, might be pushing it a bit! You need to be at least semi-careful :)

Most probably it's a poor language conversion from another language Amazon site where it's usually sold maybe? Obviously something has got lost in the translation there!

Coincidentally I noticed that Aldi had Castrol GTX 10/40 in stock. Only one litre bottles though at £4.99.
