Update: Just the rear brakes to do. New engine fitted and connected up but not started her yet. All being well I should have my car on the road in abut a week.

I took the sump off the engine that is due to go into the car to fit a new gasket and I noticed a small hole in the mesh filter at the bottom of the pick up pipe. Is this a major problem and is that mesh cheap to replace?

Yes, we used new gaskets all round when we replaced the head. Car hasn't started since then.
