WTD Capri 2.0s Interior

Looking for a good condition Capri 2.0s Interior. Not 100% sure what was fitted to this model as I'm more familiar with Mk 1 Capris. I think they had "strobe" interiors. Either grey or red. The car that I want to fit them in is red. I have a 1/2 leather interior as trade or for sale once a...

When did the "S" become a Laser?

Don't get on these forums much these days but I'm on the look out for a 2.0s Capri. My knowledge is not brilliant on the model so I'm looking for info on when the model changed from "S" to "Laser" and what features distinguishes the "S" as I've come across a few lasers ...

Re: Ford V6 Auto Box Wanted

Are you still looking for an auto box? I bought a 4spd off a guy in London yesterday. He has one for a v6.
PM and I'll send you his number. He is in Romford.

Re: V8 but which one?

Jags look good standing still for a reason.
All Jags are E-Types (the E stands for Expensive)
Notice how people say they OWN a jag rather than DRIVE a jag?
Shouldn't really make jokes about Jags as they are owned by Ford.

Re: Mk 2 body parts....Availablilty?

Im torn as the car is pretty much a basketcase and if i was to take it on, economically id have to do all the work myself. Trouble is work is unrelenting and doesnt look like letting up so time might not be on my side.
I might have to toss a coin on it and go in with a cheap offer and try much.

Re: newbie post: Perana build

Toploader is your best bet although there are several modern sequential gearboxes available now that can handle that sort of power.
I have a standard T5 that came behind aussie V8s and is fine upto 300bhp but im told are weak beyond that.

Mk 2 body parts....Availablilty?

Whats parts for the Mk 2 like to get in the UK....I'm in Australia but have relatives in the UK. I'm thinking about buying a rusty Mk 2 as a project to learn to weld on. It needs all the usual spots doing, sills, a-pillars, rear quarters etc, but also the front guards which are unique (I believe) ne...

Re: V8 but which one?

Windsors are quite common in Australia as they were in all the early 70's Falcons and later AU (90's) Series Falcons, Fairlaines, LTDs etc. You can pick up a 90's Falcon with a V8 for about $1500 with all the injection kit and roller cam engine etc. I'm still learning about the V8's as I've only jus...

Re: Engine removal - All bases covered?

Literally took my Essex out last night....It was a bit of a bugger being auto as the kick-down cable was sieved and taggled around the engine loom. The speedo cable was also bent and I couldn't find my circlip removers as well. Essex is an heavy lump but doesn't nothing on a Clevo 351 V8.....Absolut...

Re: newbie post: Perana build

Just whipped the Essex out of my car and I reckon there isn't that much difference between an Essex and a Windsor. I've just picked up a Windsor (1991 from Mustang), and I reckon when I fit alloy heads, it will weight about the same as a std Essex with all the bolt ons. I'm in the middle of a Perana...

Re: Whooligan's Cars

Started removing the Essex in preparation for gearbox conversion. The motor is in good order so will only be doing a gasket, plug change, clean and paint, then re-install. Still have to line up the panel-beater to do a bit of rust repair in the top corners and full engine bay respray. Will also do a...

Re: V8 but which one?

I can't believe how cheap the Windsor parts are compared to the Essex.
I'm rebuilding an Essex and the sums keep adding up....I'm over $6000 (AUD) just in parts before I get someone to put it together.
The Windsor is looking half that fully assembled, ready to bolt in.

Re: V8 but which one?

Just picked up a small block 302 mustang (1991) engine for my Capri.
Cost me NOTHING!!! Just half a tank of fuel to go pick it up.
Not much bigger than an Essex and twice the power. With alloy heads will weigh about the same.

Re: Whooligan's Cars

Its been a while since I updated my thread. Not much has happen other than sold a few cars and bought a few more.....No Capris, just Escorts. I'm hoping to start a rolling resto on my GT V6 in the coming months. I plan to convert it to a manual soon as the factory auto has finally give up the ghost ...

Re: My 1975 3.0 Ghia Manual

Nice one.

I have a Mk 3 I'm restoring, but in my search for engine parts I've come across a MK 2 Ghia in need of restoration also.....I'm tempted to buy it and have the Quadrella...Mk 1 V6 GT, Mk 1 Perana replica, Mk 3 3.0s replica and possible Mk2????

Love the colour as well.

Re: Wanted capri v8 engine mounts for 302

Hi. I have a Mk 1 with a V8 (set-up). You wont have to modify the tunnel too much for a T5. My had a big C10 Auto in it when I bought the car and the tunnel was only massaged slightly around the top to aid taking it in and out. We can buy V8 engine mounts from a local engineering company (here in Au...

Best Place to get 2nd hand parts

I'm based in Australia, but my brother has just moved back to the UK permanently (long story) so I'll have a base later in the year. I'm planning to head over in September to collect parts for my Mk 3 Capri which is currently under restoration. 10 years ago, I bought the car and chased a few bits th...
