Re: Timing belt
If all else fails mig weld an old bolt or other chunky bit of metal to it at a convenient angle so you would be able to put some force on it to undo.

Re: Car feels weird lol
Just in case I needed shackles and bushes I agreed a sale or return deal with CCI so long as I definitely bought the springs. It seemed the best way around as I really didnt want to start the job and get stuck with car left on axle stands waiting for parts. When it came to it though Im afraid the lo...

Re: Brake warning light on
Hand brack light switch As the original poster has identified the feed to his oil gauge is spraying oil over the inside of the instrument cluster I'd guess that was probably the cuprit. It could be a coincidence but I'd say it probably unlikely the handbrake switch could have caused the later issue...

Re: Gold ‘84 2.0S running gear swap...
A change to a production 2.8i or 3.0 rear axle wont provide rear discs as they had drums. The easiest brake upgrade for 4 cylinder Capris is to go to the vented front discs and calipers from the 2.8i. To convert to rear discs you would be looking at aftermarket parts. It's worth searching th...

Re: MK3 From Croatia
That looks a really good restoration. I hope you manage to make the after market front wings fit without too much additional shaping and filling work.

Re: Car feels weird lol
Replacing my rear springs immediately improved the ride and handling and made the car sit evenly when parked. I went for CCI single leafs but whatever you get make sure they are good quality ones and fit them using good bushes and shackles. I hope we dont lose Bug. I can agree with him that it's not...

Re: 1600 v 2000
The standard 1.6 on it's own is quite refined to drive but does require being in the right gear to get the most of the available 72bhp. Id echo what others have said. If the right car turns up and happens to be a 1.6 dont be put off and if you did want to improve it closer to 2.0 performance it woul...

Re: New MOT Rules
I would be in favour of having a softer version of the standard MOT test. Basic functional checks on brakes, lights etc and a visual check for corrosion damage on significant areas. Having no requirement for an MOT at all seems a bit unwise. Ive realised that under this rule I would put my 1979 MGB ...

Re: 280 15" alloys wanted
The 15" wheels went months ago Im afraid. I swapped them for a V8 engine for someone on the other Capri forum. I do still have the 13" wheel from the injection special. Make me an offer if its of use. Chris

Re: Where is she now?
A lot of money but probably now quite a rare Capri. Its funny how those GL type steel wheels looks so different in bare, without trim rings and without the black sections painted in. Not better or worse just distinctively different and clean looking. Although most of the special editions were really...

Re: Another Injection from the Dr.....
That is one very lovely and original Injection. That comment about Shark grey & Pepperpot -v- Carla and Pepperpots has got me wondering again (seldom a good sign where im concerned). How precisely right does the right interior have to be ? The answer from most is probably going to be that its fi...

Re: Leaf spring snapped
If you can get single leaf springs for a similar price to multis I would say go for them. They became the standard fit on later capris and are fully compatible, just better. Changing to single leaf springs seems to be popular everywhere except in the US -there were no standard spec Capris sold there...
