Re: What....

I just think they're a load of dickheads. Just not my idea of fun and I can't afford to keep buying tyres and don't want to spend hours getting moulton rubber off my paintwork. I know I'm a grumpy old man but each to their own.  I'm donning my flameproof suit when I say this but at l...

I'm donning my flameproof suit when I say this but at least they are out there being given a bit of stick rather than being stared at in the garage wrapped in bubble wrap like most are

Re: What a Waste!

Presumably from the wheels and trim on those xr4x4 they are both 2.0 models? It looks like it. According to howmanyleft.co.uk, there are only around 100 of that model still registered, so quite a rare car. Andrew. Those wheels were on the 2.9 1990 onwards too. I was offered a NOS set last year but ...

Re: What a Waste!

Whether you like the cars or not, they don't deserve this treatment :( You have to wonder about the story behind them though. I bet most of these would have been restorable when they were parked. Not now though. I also came across this at another location that might be of interest. Three Sierras (2...

Re: Now I have heard it all....

I have heard the "my mate had one of them 2.8 lasers" I have only had a handful of people approach or tell me stories of them having a 4 cylinder car way back when. one when i was out and about was an old boy who was over 70 approached me telling me that he had a white c reg 1.6 laser from...

Re: Speedo bouncing

I'd take the cable off and grease it inside, when they get dry the inner catches and snags on the outer then releases that will bounce the speedo needle around

Re: 1.6 laser brake upgrade

The rule of thumb is to use new bolts to put them back together as bolts stretch. iirc the torque figure is around 54nm for them but double check as my memory is hazy

Re: 1.6 laser brake upgrade

I only hit country roads for spirited driving and I managed it :drive: before anyone asks It had new discs, recon calipers, new flexis and new fluid so no items were old and in need of repair and I don't ride brakes

Yep heat is the killer vented will keep it cooler, I remember boiling the fluid on my laser on a spirited drive, shat myself as the pedal hit the floor and had no brakes

Re: Inlet manifold

I hate gasket sealer but before you put 2 gaskets on, try using one gasket with both sides lightly smeared in grease then run the engine up to temp, its old school but works (Got told it many years ago when i was a lad by my dad When he was teaching me to spanner, I've not had a gasket leak) my bike...

Hero is a word that is based about Willy nilly these days, the word should be reserved for gents like him who selflessly risked his life not knowing whether he would survive or not to safeguard the freedom of the country, R.I.P I have the greatest respect for what his generation did for the country,...

Re: Ball joint splitter

Have used the scissor type a few times with the back plate and disc still on, the last one I did was so seized I actually snapped the seperator though, even if you do rip the boot your local factors will have a selection that cost pennies, take the arm down and they will match it up
