Re: New Ford on my driveway

Very nice Neil, one of the few modern cars I can appreciate actually. And I like the way these cars have become part of a motoring enthusiasts world, many people being passionate about them. Those gates are good in front of the garage, gives double protection. Hi Paul, I think they are a great clas...

Re: New Ford on my driveway

My Blue ST which I had a couple of years ago was a Code Red map to 265bhp on o/e equipment, but I put a bigger intercooler and catback exhaust on it and that flew. Look at the boost gauge when you floor it. If it goes to the max (1.5 bar iirc) it's had a map, if it goes to around 3/4 it's in standa...

Re: New Ford on my driveway

The RS, with basically the same 5 pot engine (albeit lower compression and a marginally different cam profile) puts out way more, so the ST can certainly be tweaked. A few years ago earlier, if anyone had suggested to me that Ford's fastest medium sized car would one day have a Volvo engine with an...

That much? To me, 275 BHP through the front wheels sounds like quite a wild ride..... :drive:

Andrew.
It is too much really, but unbelievably exciting.

Re: New Ford on my driveway

Believe me,they map really well to 275 bhp on o/e exhaust, air filter and intercooler http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=9&fueltype=3&model=2&variant=2 And may well aid fuel consumption too, but the standard clutch will probably die.... RS Clutch is the way to go :drive: Makes it t...

She killed the Ka Andrew..... Both my daughters have Fiat 500's now, which is basically a new Ka and is a...

Re: New Ford on my driveway

Hi Neil, Nice car, and great colour :D IF(?) driven carefully quite economical too. Keep an eye open for water leaks in the boot area, sometimes it comes in through the spoiler fixing bolts and/or rear lights! :goodluck: Nice one Andy, it does have a small leak in the boot I'll get him to check tho...

Re: I'm back......

Very nice Andy.... I seem to remember this car from Facebook. The chap that restored it was trying to sell it for a bit over £20k last year. Looks like you've got a bit of a bargain there, but I thought there would be some bargains coming through soon :D I hope you keep it long enough to take it to ...

Re: Brake Servo O-Ring

You need a grommet to fit in the servo hole, not an o ring.

Perhaps Martin has a sprare one?

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

I found this interesting you-tube film about how they repair master (and wheel) cylinders for old vehicles where new cylinders are not an option. I would guess this is the process that Martin has done to his recon cylinders. We'll all have to have this done one day when new cylinders of decent qual...

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

I’m going to buck the trend here. Why the master cylinder over the wheel cylinders? There’s a lot of poorly made aftermarket examples out there. If it is the master cylinder based on what you’ve described I’d expect the inside of the servo to be wet with brake fluid. Olly W Hi Olly, I originally th...

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

I had an issue with spongy brakes last year & fitted one of Martins refurbished master cylinders. Haven’t had an issue since, so I would echo the others on this being the issue. Good luck with the seal kit replacement, has to be worth a try. I have another batch of the 2.8i master cylinders due...

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

Sorry to hear this too Neil. Hope you get to the bottom of it mate. Yep its a worry if it is the master cylinder which you have not had on all that long. Good luck with rebuilding it mate. If it is down to the quality of assemble it is a worry as you say, but hope it sorts the problem. All the best...

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

If I recall you fitted a new Granny cylinder same as me. Wouldn't expect it to fail that quickly but I'm wondering about the seals between the cylinder and reservoir. Could they be at fault? Yes Peter it was the the Granny one. I'm not sure why its failed after not much more than a year and probabl...

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

I'd go along with the diagnosis of the master cylinder too. When bleeding the brakes if you jack the front of the car a bit higher than the rear this should allow the bias valve to open the flow to the rear a bit more than in the level or nose down position. Cheers for your thoughts on this Paul, l...

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

Not a big surprise to me, but the Capri failed its MOT today. Sorry to hear that Neil. I haven't had this issue before, but if air is getting into the system and you don't have any leaks, I would have thought that it must be the master cylinder that is to blame. Was the replacement master cylinder ...
