Water in passenger side footwell

Evening all, It's probably been the subject of a few threads but I'm not sure as to whether this particular item has been the culprit for the water ingress into the passenger side footwell when it rains. I checked all the usual suspects blocked heater drain, windscreen seal etc etc but nothing visib...

Be warned, it's an exhausting job if you intend to fit them yourself, but if you insist then best get it out your system now.

Re: Accelerator cable and engine paint

I'm not to worried about the exhaust manifolds, I'm just concentrating on the block and cylinder heads at the moment, I literally can't wait to get the engine installed in the car - it's car clinic 3.4 stroker engine and I'm itching to try her out!

Other than a Capri the only other cars I'd drive are a '68 Dodge Charger 426 Hemi or a Plymouth Road Runner, not a single modern car made can persuade me to part with my children's inheritance

Accelerator cable and engine paint

Evening all, Almost finished installing an Edelbrock carburetor on my 3 litre Essex engine, just need to adapt an accelerator cable to match the Capri pedal to the Edelbrock linkage, can anyone tell me what Capri had the longest accelerator cable, I'm thinking it's the 2.8i but I'm not totally sure ...

Re: 2.8i 1986 engine rebuild

Hello markthetart, I agree with Paul, a 34-year-old fibre camgear should be replaced. I have recently replaced a fibre gear for an aluminium one because of age. (not mine: the car!) Initially it made a noticeable "whining sound", which was expected but it has since quietened down. Again, ...

Unless the seller lowers the price I think he/she may be in possession of that panel for a quite a while.

Re: Accelerator Pedal Play

Hi mate,

I personally wouldn't worry about having a bit of slack as long as the carb/throttle body linkage is fully open when the throttle pedal is hard to the floor.

That's a good call as well, in my younger days I put a gearbox back in a car with no spigot bearing and thought fuck it that'll be alright.....it wasn't

Re: Car won't go into gear after startup

I had trouble with one of my cars last year I think it was, I had left her standing unused in the garage for around 5 months, when I adventually got round to using her I couldn't get any gears at all unless the engine was off and even with the clutch pedal to the floor she still lurched forward if i...

Re: Car won't go into gear after startup

Hi Tom,

When you say the car was sitting for a while do you mean weeks or months or just a few days?

If you was to start the car in 1st gear with the handbrake off and with the clutch pedal to the floor does she try to move forward at all?

Re: Breathing a bit heavy

It's just hard to imagine the engine running ok with such low compressions in the cylinders especially the cylinder that only has 80psi, I would have thought that particular cylinder would be misfiring all over the place or even dead. As others have said though run the compression test again and do ...

Re: Breathing a bit heavy

For the last few days it's been OK - I pushed the cap on a bit more as I remembered that I'd tried to take it out again and couldn't get it off fully   Will have to keep an eye on these things as the low compression on cylinder 1 does mean it will need some love eventually Cheers Dann...

Re: Thinking about lowering my car

I know it's probably going to sound a bit 'old man talking' but before you consider lowering your car take into consideration them poxy speed humps, when my car was lowered those humps caused nothing but problems for the exhausts, I was constantly waiting for the exhaust to start blowing with each b...
