Re: Moving drivers seat backwards
Im thinking the Recaro seats just dont go quite as far back as other Capri seats. I remember when i moved from a 1.6GL to a 2.8i Special many years ago jobs such as removing the lower dash panel to access the relays seemed a bit trickier as the seat wouldnt shift as far out of the way. Mind you that...

Re: Looking for information on MK1 seat restoration.
You could ask for a recommendation from Crash and Burn over on the Capripower forum. He is in Oregon, previously California, and has tinkered with just about every aspect of his Capris. He has tracked down a number of useful stateside suppliers so could be a useful starting point.

Re: Most Expensive Capri ?
Its a highly desirable RS3100 but It always seems a pity when a car just becomes treated as a commodity artifact, bought with the sole intention of reselling it at a profit.

Re: Trouble Bleeding Brakes following MC Rebuild
Personally I would change the MC for a new, recon or good 2nd hand one rather than replace seals as i would be concerned about corrosion inside the cylinder wearing and tearing the new seals before they had even bedded in.

Try Caprigear if you are looking for 2nd unless someone else steps forward, give Martin a shout, Otherwise try CCI as they often have them. For new try Magnum Panels, they used to supply them to Tickover.

Re: rear side window trims
Im pretty sure the trims are the same. Its only the window glass and the internal parts & catch that are different. Always funny how Ford they went to the cost of offering opening rear windows on some specs but not others. I dont think it was even standard on S spec cars at one time.

Re: Trouble Bleeding Brakes following MC Rebuild
It sounds very much like my experience trying to bleed the brakes on my other old car. Though not a Capri it's from the same era with a very similar braking system layout. I'd had the master cylinder off the car for a year or so whilst I was working on the engine bay and wrongly just assumed this co...

Re: Capri hot start problem
Id really recommend swapping to the 32/36 Weber and relevant manifold that were standard on the 2.0 Have a word with Martin at Caprigear to see if he has any decent 2nd hand ones in stock and ask him about re jetting it for the 1.6 (it will work better than the VV with the 2.0 jets but will run at i...

Re: M16 brake calipers
i split one many years ago to better clean and paint it but couldn't ever get it to reseal correctly. At the time though second hand Ford calipers were remarkably cheap and easy to get hold of from a local scrappy so i didnt even try get as far as replacing the o ring which must have been the guilty...

Just had a look at Tadpole's site. They are definitely at the top end of the market. A rebuilt Motorola 717T with DAB and Bluetooth comes out at a significant £ 1,902

Re: Dash top
I tried one of the leather dash covers at first but then moved onto a CCI dash shell. IMHO it looks far better and makes a permanent repair of it.

Martin at Caprigear has hem. I bought one a couple of years ago. I think they are plastic bodied now but look exactly as per OEM originals.

Re: Sportex Exhaust 2.8i
When I got my 2.8 the Sportex exhaust on there insisted on knocking against just about every part of the underside that it possibly could. The previous owner was apologetic as he had just put it on and couldnt get it right. I actually sourced a standard original exhaust & cast manifolds but when...

Re: Newbe alert.
If it still has the original single barrel vv carb it may be worth replacing with a standard 32/36 Weber & manifold from a 2 litre. A cheap and cheerful upgrade which usefully narrows the performance gap.

Re: 1980 Ford Capri L 1.6
Welcome back to Capri ownership. You got that for a good price so as long as you control costs by doing some of the work yourself you have a good investment on your hands. I had a standard 1.6L in the late 1980s and loved it. There is very little difference between the L and the GL; the L has the mo...
