The rear brakes will have loads of little coils on it to help pull it together so pay attention to them when you take it off, even take a photo if it helps and you will definately need a clamp to help hold it in place whilst you clip on the springs to the new brakes

Yeah if you replicate the original design in SS then the difference shouldn't be huge, especially once, as JC says, there is a bit of soot built up.
