Re: Sportex Exhaust 2.8i
It’s taken me about 18 months to realise the SS exhaust rear section sometimes (if going fast) bangs against the side of the rear leaf spring, when going down a dip.. my mechanic pointed this out, but only after going through everything and every bush to make sure.. pain really, but she sounds so aw...

Re: Gearbox rattles above 55
Thanks, I think it’s both.. and I’ve not done before nor the facility, time to do it.
If I don’t find one - do I need a CV joint, and a bearing , right? Would it also be advisable to get any seals replaced that mate the shaft into the gearbox or LSD?

Re: Gearbox rattles above 55
With her up on ramps , and a few test runs it’s been diagnosed as a worn centre propshaft bearing/joint, there’s a lot of play on it. I was advised that it would be easier and cheaper to get a fully reconditioned or new complete unit, and slip it in rather than pay the mechanic to remove, dismantle ...

Re: 2.8i fuel sender unit leak from terminal
:applaud: my mechanic repaired the sender with several layers, over several days, of petrol tank weld.. Found that a weld spat had , in fact burnt an extremely minute pin hole in the inner body. So it wasn’t the terminal, just looked like it…The quality control of these units is practically zero. Cr...

Re: The Electric Vehicle experience..
Just shows you how shit all that electric shite is..and the masses are being brainwashed by the Big Brothee Corporation (BBC), that grinning Cheshire Cat grunt crapps and the government banning our enjoyment of life whenever they can. Long live proper cars with proper engines. Get that autoglym flow...

Huh , maybe I wont get my screen seal of cci then . I got hold of them years ago re a set of louvers , the guy I spoke ( email )to said " yeah we have them but they are poor quality and you would not be happy with them ". Bumper corners are shite too apparently. Do they actually make any ...

Re: 2.8i fuel sender unit leak from terminal
Andy, I always admire your dedication to this forum. Most appreciated. My mechanic has actually taken the crap thing to bits after discovering a spot weld had created a tiny pin prick , it’s actually not the terminal but one of the spot welds over heating outside tolerances causing a very tiny pin p...

Re: 2.8i fuel sender unit leak from terminal
Thanks guys, it’s one with plastic block, so I’m not sure how to repair... it seems the terminal is embedded in the middle of it and the plastic section is inserted straight into the unit.
To me it looks poorly engineered!
Anyone else bought these recently?
Any other thoughts most welcome!

2.8i fuel sender unit leak from terminal
Hi, second new sender unit bought in 2 years bearing in mind no mileage on the last one in 18 months of lockdown being laid up...and I have petrol leaking again from the terminal insert that has the wire attached. The last one bought from the club. Has anyone else had this expensive experience? Coul...
Re: No power!
Just checking, if there’s an issue with boot, an there’s a security system, it may be if she thinks that something is still live, like boot lock not shutting properly it’ll probably just drain the battery. The best way to check is with an ammeter over about an. Hour. A Capri should not really take m...

Re: Rear wheel arch rust
It’s 2-fold, crap getting up into the outer wheel arch inner, and moisture inside the double skinned arch, where it meets. The best way is to take each side back wing trim out, and spay rustproofing solution in, then do same outside in the inner arches. I use a mixture of dinitrol 4875, ziebart (fro...

:deadhorse: That site is actually quite good for downsizing (got it down from 5.3 meg to 87k ) cheers for that D366Y. However after an hour of swearing, I’ve knocked it on the head as it keeps saying it’s got too many pixels I think this forum the way it’s set up isn’t helpful at all, after all that...

Re: Where is everyone from?
Hi, Stu, Suffolk/Norfolk borders.. it would be helpful and possibly quite easy, for the profiles to display the basic locations of members, so they can make contact with fellow enthusiasts in their areas without having to ask?

Re: MG MICRO BLISTERING BIT OFF CAPRI TOPIC
And the areas in question have been polished/worn the most so said lacquer has thinned there most. It will probably develop into swathes of lacquer lift. There not much point in trying to polish or grind it off, as stated on here, as your car is likely painted with water based original paint and wil...

I’m sure I seen this Reg before. However someone restored it / owned it from 1998-2009, but was broken up in 2008... weird!
