Re: Heat Guns
I mean for a tenner what have you got to use? I'm sure the branded stuff has it's values if you use it all day everyday but for us at-home project-car DIY-ers I'm sure it will do me fine... If not, I'll get my money back in the next three years if it fails in the three times I use it in that period ...

Re: Factory 2.0 pinto cam cover wanted
Hi all, does anyone have a standard Ford cam cover, for a 1986 2.0 laser? I want to correctly reinstate the original airbox and support brackets/screws. To do this, I need the correct cover that has the 2 necessary holes on the side (like the one in the photo below). https://i.postimg.cc/KKbyxGPN/S...

Re: Laser + GL and now a 3.0S!
Been a while since there has been any update but in my defence I was sort of busy.... However, currently I seem to have a load of spare time on my hands! Not sure why... Made some new heater resistors for the GL and the Laser, rebuilt the heater motor assembly with a new fan for the Laser, just wait...

Re: Strut rebuild
Then you're stuffed. So my advice would remain that you should leave well alone. Maybe just remove the rubber gaiter for access to mask it all up. Then jubilee clip it back in place. In fact, even a tywrap would do it, depending on your OCD levels. Clean up the gaiter with Autoglym bumper gel or so...

Re: Strut rebuild
Not sure what bottom bolt you mean? Thought only the 2.8i units had a lock nut on the bottom. Take that off and the damper is upside down, with the rod threaded into the housing. However, on yours, if it is standard, you need to remove the rubber gaiter, then you'll see the big fat old collar at th...

Strut rebuild
Evening all! Spent the evening stripping the front suspension on the S to paint it all up, Haynes doesn't say anything about removing the damper though and I was hoping to take it off to be asked to paint it all up but can't figure it out for the life of me... I undid the bottom bolt but it didn't m...

Re: Alternator Connection’s
If Vehicle Wiring Products are still online and in business, they used to supply the correct snap-together fittings for the alternator plugs. Simply connect your wires into the plug, then fold it shut. In fact, they used to do EVERYTHING you may need. EDIT: Just looked and they are: https://www.veh...

Re: Relay and generator recce
The alternator doesn't have another connection in the middle either, I think it's just a spare? If you have the correct plug and loom it DOES have 3 wires: (Although pins 1 & 2 are linked so it could be made to work with just one, but as standard, nope all 3 are used.) You`re right about the di...

Re: Relay and generator recce
Personally I always find these wiring diagrams much more user friendly, not sure if they have absolutely everything in them as I've not checked every single one but I would expect it to? http://www.a400mod.com/Fuses.htm The alternator doesn't have another connection in the middle either, I think it'...

Re: Turbotail Spoiler
I put a post out on facebook yesterday as well and it appears a few other people have had the same idea and are currently trying to create moulds to start producing so think I'll let them do the hard work and save myself the trouble! Hi Danny, That's probably just as well to let somebody else sort ...

Re: MOT's extended for six months
Quoted from the article: The extension saw MOTs that expired during the lockdown automatically extended by six months. The rule change was introduced on 30 March and is currently in force until March 2021. This means that any MOT expiring until then will be granted an automatic six-month extension. ...

Turbotail Spoiler
Hi guys, Bit of a random one! Was looking at trying to source a turbo tail for the S today and quickly found it's a bit of a nightmare and are no longer mass produced (as far as I can find) but have found someone who can produce fibreglass copies if they can borrow a car with an original one to make...

Re: Pinto engine coolant hoses
Dan, all you need to do it link the 2 existing pipe that come from the bulkhead to the auto choke then from the choke to the manifold . i don't believe that they make a pipe for this in one section Thanks, I did think so, mine are just bent and twisted all over the place so wanted a rough idea of w...

Here’s a old picture of mine dan if it helps . Cheers Jason, is that a manual choke on yours? If so can you please take the air box off and show me where your join is?? Hi Dan The only two hoses that you will have to change/get are the hose from the heater matrix up to where the auto-choke would be...

Pinto engine coolant hoses
Hi all, Trying to find the best/right way to sort out my cooling hoses on the cars and was wondering if some one had pictures of a standard engine bay with a 32/36 carb and manual choke? I currently have a mess of connections on the laser and am trying to get a proper kit sorted to solve the problem...

Re: Stainless steel exhaust system WANTED
After spending ages in your position a few years ago I think it's pretty safe to say that there aren't any mass produced stainless steel exhausts for pinto engines. I had one custom made in the end from powerflow from the manifold back, and the fact that it's made to fit onto the car means it's a pe...

Re: Indicator/horn stork no longer working
I think this is a relatively common issue caused by the stalk just being broken... I had a similar issue before and replaced the stalk and it solved the problem but I knew before that the wiring worked before. I think it has something to do with the metal casing around the bottom of the stalk cracki...
