Re: Copper grease - Yay or nay

Just remember guys that Copperslip is an anti-seize compound and not a lubricant. I always brush it on the edges of the pad backing plates where they contact the caliper or its mount to stop the pads rusting into the sliders.

Looks reasonable and thank goodness its not some Electric SUV piece of sh1t. It would be better given a new name as the Probe was.

Good to see the classic scene in Czechia looking well attended. Your car looks fantastic as always, and I love that Skoda 130 RS too. Andrew. Thanks Andrew. ;) And there was also one Skoda 200 RS. Don't know if original or replica. 200 RS was development racing car before 130 RS. More info here: ht...

The Tatra is a very rare car in the UK. Isn't it a rear engined V8?

Re: David Soul

I remember as a teenager I used to love watching Starsky and Hutch and I only last week watched the Dirty Harry film with him as a murderous cop.

My sister used to love him too.

RIP David.

Re: Who Remembers?

How about the Green Shield Stamps and the Catalog ? It was some thing like 5000 Books to get a Ford Cortina. My Mum saved all her books up to get me a Matchbox Motorway, it was great. Little sticky pads with a spike to put on the underside of your favorite Matchbox cars and the Spiral Drive ( a coi...

Re: 2nd cylinder keeps on fouling spark plugs

!.6 and 2 litre Pinto engines don't have fuel injection in a Capri - they are carburettored. You'd think they would know that already, given that their fleet includes a 2.0 Laser that serves as a trusty daily driver and provides reliable and efficient transportation for their everyday needs. Andrew...

My Nan used to use that and we had it at school too. Dreadful stuff, like wiping your bum with grease proof paper.

Re: Who Remembers?

Just had a new tank and immersion put in about 3 years ago. Unfortunately it's on the large gallery landing I have so it doesn't heat the house up to any
noticeable degree. Mind you the old Crittel windows don't help either.

Re: Advice on funny running

Braved the cold, took the rocker cover off and surprise surprise, exhaust valve on piston 4 is tight as you like. Couldn't feel my fingers after I'd got to that point so will go and adjust them all properly later, but reality is the head needs new seats so if anyone can recommend somewhere to get t...

Re: Advice on funny running

The stall speed must be below 2600 RPM according to the Ford manual. As your car is a GL you will need to connect up a remote rev counter and before doing any test make sure the engine is tuned up as well as it can be. What Steve SCP said about doing the test in drive with engine hot and brakes appl...

Re: Advice on funny running

It wasn't long ago that you did the clearances Danny was it - or was that the other car? If you check the clearances pay particular attention to the exhaust valve clearance on the duffy cylinders - tightness could indicate that the valve seats are receding. To check the torque converter you need to ...

Just checked on mine Nick and where the original earth bolts into the block by the fuel pump it has a 17mm head which I guess would correspond to an M10 bolt. I'd chuck a spanner on yours and just make sure.

Re: Who Remembers?

I remember as a boy in the mid 70's that Fred Evans, the owner of the chippie round the corner from me charged 5p for a small chips and 6p for a large chips. I have no idea as to what fish cost then or now as I'm allergic to the stuff. Regarding petrol, as an even smaller boy in the late 60's I reme...
