Re: NOS Half-Leather Driver's Seat (very boring post)

Very nice! Like you say though, is it even too good to use? Would be a shame to wear and tear such a fine seat, but then again, that's what it was made for. Tricky.

Re: HELP! cam belt question

I think Dan means that he thinks that he set them too tight before, so he did them again and used the next gauge up. I haven't a clue as to whether the correct size was used either time though, or if I've misunderstood also!

Re: Tyres

Well, it is a business I guess. And no one is being forced to buy them. To be honest I dislike a lot of negativity towards the Capri Club, I think the club is excellent. There is a lot of stuff on offer there, and the monthly magazine is great. Kudos to you though Martin, you've offered a good deal ...

Re: Exhaust Diameter

Thank you both for the replies. It's blowing at the downpipe/middle section join, underneath where the driver sits. I was going to cut the 'swaged' bit out, to leave 2 pipes at the same diameter, to piece a sleeve in. Guess this is my best bet then, at 50mm - http://www.mijexhaustparts.com/products/...

Exhaust Diameter

Could someone please confirm for me, the diameter of a 2.0 Laser standard exhaust. I think it's 45mm, but I can't find any reference to it. I need to sleeve a piece (where the downpipe joins), as it's blowing, and will use this if it is 45mm - http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1/pbar/Capture.jpg

Re: Electronic Ignition worth getting done?

I'd certainly check that you have the points set right and that they are clean. I've had hesitation in the past and cleaning up the points and re-setting them works wonders. You will be surprised at just how much those little things can affect the running of the car. If the coil is old, might be wor...

Please post back with your findings, as this would be the first time that I've ever heard of someone trying a replacement part for that.

Re: Electronic Ignition worth getting done?

Personally I'd stick with points. They don't fail. Yes, they wear and need attention and replacing, but they won't fail you like electronic replacements (especially the cheaper ones from what I've read on here) might. A lot who convert to electronic still keep a set of points in the car just in case...

I don't think that I'd like something on show like that, but that's just me. It's too easily seen and inviting I think.

Re: unleaded fuel in a capri?

Letting your engine tick over to warm on cold starts solves that issue as the slow air intake isn’t enough to freeze the carburettor up. Mind you owning an old engine that’s what you do anyway right..??? Never heard of anyone having to do that before, I just drive off straight away, no matter how c...

Re: Heater resistor question.

You can bypass the resistor, and your heater will still work, albeit only on the fast speed. I'm unaware of any modern replacement part for the resistor, would be good to find something though!

I've found that satnav speeds are not accurate though, the speedo on the car is probably a better gauge than a satnav.

Re: Is this normal?

As mentioned though, I'd be more concerned as to why the steering wheel is so far out. By aligning it you might only be compensating for another issue which needs looking at instead.

You can alter locks to suit a key. Might be an option, if you are able to just find door locks but only want to use the key you have now.
