Re: Petrol Gauges
My sender gives very little movement in the 3/4 to 4/4 area, then moves much faster between 1/4 and 3/4. I'm paranoid though - the tank is normally full and in any case almost never goes under half a tank!

Re: Air Tools & Compressors?
The first one is definitely too small. SGS sell the second one as part of a painting kit so it should be ok although I suspect it will be near its limit reading the specs. I hate air tools, much prefer electric. Are you using a drill for wire brushing? If so use cheap a one as it ruins them in no t...

Re: Bolts Wanted!
Hi Danny
If you're anywhere near Rickmansworth/Watford try Orbital Fastenings on Tolpits Lane, they do fixings of all shapes and sizes and know more about bolts than any of us will ever forget, will sell you half a dozen if needed. Phone Watford (01923) 777777.
Thanks
Tom.

Re: Tom and his 1.6L
Good to see you again Nick and this afternoon, having gone out thanks to the lovely sun, passed him again down by the park gates. I hate to break it to you guys but Nick's standards are definitely slipping... his double decker didn't seem to have lowering springs fitted :o and let's not mention the ...

Re: Radio not working
Do these radios have an onboard battery (cr2032 or similar) or caps or do they simply take power from the car battery? If there's some internal power supply that may stop a full reset from working unless thats disconnected too? Thinking aloud!

Re: Screws info required
It's not just me then! There are a couple of sizes of self tapper which seem to be everywhere - I went down to Orbital and got a bag of 100 off them. Does look that bit better. At least I don't have, err, a screw loose!

Re: Insurance declarations
I've read that they can have wildly strict interpretations of the garage clause, and if you park elsewhere overnight (even if in another town) they consider you uninsured. At least FJ specify it has to be parked overnight either in the garage or anywhere more than 5 miles away.

Re: Insurance declarations
I am with FJ - when my renewal came through last year I tried to get a quote from Adrian Flux for comparison. Filled in the online form but got nothing back from them for two weeks, by which time I had renewed with FJ anyway. The sales guy was really pushy and saying he could do a great deal and I c...

Seconded, if you can take it off the car pop around and they will cut to size the right stuff. Any decent factors will do it.

Re: Modernising the Ford Capri
There are a few practical tweaks that can be made to improve reliability etc - electronic ignition perhaps, new carb without a possibly unreliable autochoke etc. Good tyres, fresh brake fluid, all make a difference. If used daily be prepared to spend time looking after it or money paying someone els...

Re: First drive of 2019 !
As I work in central my normal commute can only ever be by tube. However, for the last 6 days I drove in the Capri, mild weather and no rain to boot - incredibly pleasant. Roads were pretty much dead as well! Off up to the motor factors this afternoon for a few bits, after the weekend I've got a few...

Well, I am on Facebook. I use it to keep in touch with family dotted all over the place as well as friends. Again, dotted all over the place! I use it as a business tool as well having a dedicated page for my business. More a reference point than advertising. I think it’s a good way to keep in touc...

I normally visit the Bristol area at some point over the summer, so if this goes ahead I'd roll the two together.

Re: What Spares....
When I bought my Capri I replaced many of the service parts, purely so I could know for sure when a new set had been put on. I took the old, but working, parts (HT coil, leads, points etc) and stashed them around the spare wheel in component boxes. For good measure, I have also secreted a few lamps....
