Re: cutting out problem (2.0 - 32/36 weber)
Cheers for the info mate! I've checked the valve clearances a couple of times recently. When I first checked them they were all super tight but, now I think i've got them on the money from the Haynes. Isolating the booster, do you mean just pull it off on tickover? I guess i'd have to plug it up too...

cutting out problem (2.0 - 32/36 weber)
My Capri is kind of back on the road but suffering from an annoying problem where It likes to cut out occasionally. I think i've pinned it down to when Its not warmed up but I cant be fully sure yet as I dont use it a lot. Its always seemed to suffer from it even when I got a few miles away from buy...

Capri Indicator bulb holder replacement
Someone way before me decided to smooth the front of the Car off and then add some Escort bumpers to the front... all that aside, they also seemed to add what I'm told are 5w side repeaters as indicators. I can tell you nobody can see these things flash when your coming towards them. Now the car is ...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
You've been busy :D . Always good to read about how someones car is improving. Nice work on the interior & glad you got the temperature gauge working. Remember rebuilding with a carb kit years ago, brought back memories of a kitchen smelling of petrol before I was blessed with a garage. I like ...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
You say you would like to fit a set of Ghia wheels - well if you're interested I have a set of 4 with centre caps but no bolts that I would let go very reasonably. PM me if you're interested. Paul. Cheers Paul, Just PM'd you. Might not be the right time for me to do cosmetic spends but definitely i...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
After this and with a Carb kit on the way anyway I took the Carb back off, stripped It down (except for the linkages) and give it a good blast with Carb Cleaner. All the jets got a clean, new gaskets, O rings and Needle Valves. IMG_0206.jpeg Screen Shot 2020-06-22 at 22.05.05.png Screen Shot 2020-06...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
I havent replied here for a while. A lot has happened in the last few months and this car is finally on the road (ish). Since messing about with the top hose I ended up getting stuck into the brakes, Carb and Tappets in anticipation of the Car becoming Tax exempt in these coming weeks. The brakes. I...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
I was told by martin when I changed my rear axle the rubber saddle pads arent needed for the single leaf springs. The Ghia interior looks the part and does look very good with the combination of vinyl roof, Mk2 bumper and the absence of the Mk3 lower side mouldings. Are you going to continue the Mk...

Re: Full Capri 2.8 Recaro interior (Shark Grey)
If anyone is interested i'd like get this interior out of here. I'd rather sell stuff together so its not handing around and would do the Seats & Door cards for £400 (£50 off) because of that.
Door Cards - £150
Door handles - £50 (drivers is not mint)
Carpet - £100
Front & Back Seats -£300

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
I replaced it over the summer but as the dash is out I’ll be checking it. Water seems to be dripping from the centre of the tunnel and running down either side ... it sits outside and we’ve had a ton of rain too so hard to decide

Re: Dixie Horn queries
Hi Owen, I think you need the relay as Andrew says as they draw a bit of power. I've had Dixie Horns for years on my Escort mk3 and they have a relay and switch on the dash. The cheap ones i have you have to hold down the button for the whole cycle.. not sure if more expensive ones will complete the...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
So the wire to the taco goes round to the coil. This car has what i think is a sierra electronic ignition so i always thought that was to do with a 12v feed for it, as i guess it would have been points before this. IMG_5602.jpg Not really sure what to do with that... i guess i just re attach it? it ...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
Got the dash out / dials to try and figure out why i'm getting no illuminations. I guessed it could have been the bulbs are so dark or gone they cant be seen. Turns out it does light up testing it with a 9v battery. I've replaced most of the bulbs with LEDs now so will plug it in tomorrow to test it...
