Re: Bad clutch or adjustment? Also strange noise.
Cheers for the replies guys! When I get time I’ll try to adjust this cable. I always thought that if the clutch was high and the bite point at the top this could be a nackard clutch? Is a low clutch bite not a new clutch? Maybe I’m wrong. I thought maybe if I adjusted it tighter that with the bite p...

Bad clutch or adjustment? Also strange noise.
The clutch Pedal on my Capri has always been quite high up along with the biting point in comparison to the Brake Pedal. It means when you pull off in 1st you sound like a learner driver most of the time. When you floor it though I dont see the rev counter going up etc like if the clutch is slipping...

Re: How to fit mk3 bumpers? (non standard Capri)
Looks like you can see where the rear has been plugged up and I found the front holes. makes sense now. Just hoping I can drill through the filler without too much mess. Will invest in some decent drill bits and do some pilot holes.

Re: How to fit mk3 bumpers? (non standard Capri)
Cheers mate! this make perfect sense now. I'll try find the right bolt size for the inner wing and buy a few galvanised ones. I wasnt sure where the bumper came through on the Capri rear. I'll get all the crap out the boot and check it out. fingers crossed I can see something.

How to fit mk3 bumpers? (non standard Capri)
Just picked up a rear bumper local with end caps and brackets which has spurred me on to try and fit them to my Car (already have the front beam, indicators and now indicators looms). Problem is someone has smoothed off the front and rear end so its going to be a little trial and error. Problem 1: w...

Re: Throttle Cables and adjusting them.
I had to shave the 4 tabs down to get it through the square hole. I should have time to look again tomorrow day and I’m off work for a week after today :woot: so it can’t be much. I’ll try the adjustment again with the plastic bush in there. Maybe I’m just being an idiot. If not the only other think...

Re: Throttle Cables and adjusting them.
cheers mate, yeah like i said if I push the plastic bush through it tilts the throttle up to about 1000-1500rpm with out touching the pedal. I thought I could adjust it out from here but it seems to get tighter when I turn out the adjuster from where its at in the picture.

Throttle Cables and adjusting them.
So a few weeks ago I was sat on my drive trying to start the Capri and the throttle cable snapped!! lucky as the day before I'd been out in it. I bough a new one off eBay for £5 that is the same Firstline part number as what Burtons sell. I fitted it to the Pedal end and eventually got it into the s...

Re: 1979 Capri 2.0 "Ghia"
Wow, I'm terrible at updating forums. So its been two years of owner ship and a lot has changed (even if it still looks the same). I also started a Youtube Chanel called Retro & Rusty to document the Capri and my old Escort mk3 too. If you head there you can see videos of my frustration haha So ...

Re: Ignition coil
I dont mean to hi jack but does anyone else run a later Bosh Dizzy with a Lucas DAB 752 Ignition Module and a Motorcraft coil (has 12V stamped on the side). I'm having similar problems getting my 2.0 Capri to fire on that first initial start up. Starting to look back at the spark im getting (althoug...

Re: 2.0 Axle Ratios & Gearbox
haha I was getting excited about that top speed! Although at the moment mine doesnt feel much quicker than my Escort Popular so the mods make sense :xd: This Car is a 2.0 Ghia so weirdly it seems someone went to the effort of replacing the Gearbox, propshaft and Axle. I'm guessing when it was cheap ...

Re: 2.0 Axle Ratios & Gearbox
ahh right ! thats interesting. I think the clutch is a bit worn/bite point high in mine so maybe thats why it feels a bit slow off the line etc. Good to know!

2.0 Axle Ratios & Gearbox
Can anyone tell me the Axle ratios to type of Gearbox that suits a 2.0 Capri? I know mine has a different axle and gear box from the factory (3.75 with a 5 Speed box). I'm guessing it doesnt probably suit the engine that well to put power down? Am I right in thinking a 3.75 with a 4 Speed would be t...

Re: cutting out problem (2.0 - 32/36 weber)
Right just a quick update . I've had a look at the vacuum advance today doing sucking air from a fresh tube . It did move and you could hear an audible click when it was engaged Of course I filmed it as I thought it would move more than this. At first it didnt seem to move that much but that might h...

Re: cutting out problem (2.0 - 32/36 weber)
Yeah i'm completely ok with people thinking I'm a novice and I'm still learn. I've done a lot on this car but I think suspension/rear axle and interior isnt as hard as figuring out these kind of problems. I'm still learning and see these sites as a place to learn form others. I wouldnt have even att...

Re: cutting out problem (2.0 - 32/36 weber)
Sorry if it's in the last couple of pages somewhere but what idle speed is the car set at. The video at the end seems to show about 600 which is pretty low I'm not sure at the moment. I took it for a drive a couple of weeks ago and it was doing the cutting out thing. When I reached a Car park I adj...

Re: cutting out problem (2.0 - 32/36 weber)
Cheers for the advice. My Escort mk3 is still on points so i'm used to that. I have had a condenser fail on a Triumph Spitfire once and was back on the road quickly enough. More recently hired a 1972 VW Camper that was on points, that failed and the person I rented it off hadn't provided spares... l...

Re: cutting out problem (2.0 - 32/36 weber)
Cheers guys , I had a quick look at the rotor arm today and it didnt seem to have any side to side play. You can twist it a bit but it springs back (guess thats normal?) . I'll check the vacuum tomorrow and if all is well have a look at the springs if I can.
