Its madness they lost their value so rapidly. They would have been easy enough to revert to normally aspirated use if sky high insurance was the factor putting people off.
I do wish I had known at the time, i just assumed they would be hopelessly out of my financial reach.

Re: Prolblem with my Capri 2.0 pinto
Have you thought of taking it up to someone who has a stock of 2nd hand spares on the shelf such as Martin, Tickover or CCI etc and getting them to substitute 1 item at a time til they find the problem. Im sure they would be willing to help. It would be far more cost effective than just handing it o...

Was the white and red checked interior standard or out of a later car, if so that may have been replaced now with an original.

I heard the rules on trailers had changed a couple of years ago with any new trailer having to be type approved and the change put many of the smaller trailer manufacturers out of business. This might be the reason no one has snapped this up, may just not be legal to do any more..

Re: Leather dash cover
Mine has started to peel off after a bit over a year, very disapointing especialy as I got the seller to reccommend the right glue and followed instructions to the letter.
Im looking at options now, may just call time on the leather and see if the CCI GRP reproduction dashboard shell is feasible.

Re: Hi Spec 285mm brake woes
A good 2nd hand 2.8 servo hopefully shouldnt be too difficult to locate. Id say it's worth trying the usual vendors most of us on here use such as Martin of Caprigear, Nial, Tickover, CCI . Also worth posting it as a Part Wanted in the appropriate sections of this and the other Capri forum. You shou...

Re: Engine Swap - Pinto 1600 to Pinto 2000
Reading you asking about whether to upgrade the disks and drums made me wonder how much bhp differential you are actually expecting. Though the standard 1.6 was only 73bhp this rises quickly when a 32/36 carb is added and a bit more when the 2 litre camshaft is used- this is the spec of the 1.6 S en...

Its worth eliminating the tank and fuel line as possibles. Can you hook up a temporary fuel line from a gallon petrol can to the fuel pump.

Re: Prolblem with my Capri 2.0 pinto
Thats a bypass, not a check. A check would be measuring the actual voltage preferably when the car is running, that way you can see if the voltage suddenly changes just as the engine stops.

Not clear why you have started 2 new threads for the same 'prolblem'
It could be best to delete this one to avoid confusion and splitting the responses.

Re: Prolblem with my Capri 2.0 pinto
Check the coil is getting the correct voltage via the ballast resister rather than the full 12 volts as that would overheat the standard 8 volt coil.
Check the small gauze filter in the inlet to the carb
Check the float needle valve works correctly and that the float does not have a pinhole leak.

It does sound very much like the servo. Who recommended changing the master cylinder and had they actually tested the servo first ?

A pair of unused raven leather front seats from a 280 will be very desirable. Be sure to let the 280 club know to watch out for them on Ebay and post the links back to this forum too. There are people out there who will buy to resell these or will buy to stockpile as well as those buyers who have a ...
