Re: Restoration: The Big Fast Red One
When I did mine I had to hit them with a big hammer to make them follow the curvature of the inner wing. Also the bit where they join the drip rail was hard to get the same on each side and generally hard to join due to the angle they meet at. Yes Beakster it needed some fetteling to say the least!...

Re: Capri injection
Im afraid they say the newer lamdba system is even less adaptable. It goes into open loop mode above a certain rpm or full throttle. The oldskool AFM system is the one to go for.

Check your fuel return hoses. I heard about a sierra that was overfuelling badly because of a trapped/kinked return hose causing increased fuel pressure.

Re: Capri injection
You should go all the way and get a mappable ECU like megasquirt since your pinto is on the wild side. The standard ECU will adapt to minor modifications to an extent if it has the old style air flow meter but gains will be limited without a fuel map to match the engine. Bigger injectors will overco...

Re: not impressed with limited slip!
Without LSD mine used to smoke 1 tyre all the way down the road if you pull out and keep it planted.
With LSD it hooks up good and gets sideways nicely when provoking it, drop the clutch and make number 11s.
It makes traction in the wet worse (fun) though.

Tubular headers arnt available for the 12v and neither are downpipes for the standard cast manifolds. Custom is the only way to go.

Hey Major Tom, do you want a hand with that? I'll have a lot of spare time as of next week, no better way to spend it than getting oily messing about with capris!

Click on "view combined stats"... It really shows how numbers have been falling until about 2006, where it levelled off. Maybe thats when all the non-enthusiast daily drivers finnally went extinct, and now its just the cherrished cars that live on. Or maybe its when the value of capris sto...

Re: 2.8 EFI install
I dont reconise that from the 2.9 loom. Black and yellow is usually the colour code for the ignition key to starter motor wire. If your starter motor wireing is already taken care of, then id suggest this wire is not necessary for the engine to run. By the way, post some pictures of your 2.8 in the ...

Re: Must be classic escort at santa pod
It wasnt bad, but it wasnt amazing. It looked like it was going to be sunny weather so the place was so crowdy, and of course santa pod has its own weather system so it was actually overcast and windy to irritating levels. Met Jon/Ghia15 there with his mk2 granny but missed him race. There was a goo...

BTW Dave, I keep getting spam emails from you trying to push a link for some dodgey "free computer scan" site kind of thing. You might want to check your spam filters and run a virus check, as you seem to be sending them to everyone in your address book. Dave, you've probably entered your...

I think I'll be there Peter, could be just what I need. Been too busy with college stuff to justify spending much time in the garage so works kinda ground to a halt again.

Re: zetec conversion
Tidy Rich! So this has replaced the turbo technics engine? I thought you had a plan for that. In what way would the gearing be wrong? The gearing wont be wrong as such. Its just that the 2.8 type9 has a dodgy 2nd ratio which is longer than it should be even for a v6 so on the 1st-2nd upshift its not...

Just rescuing my thread from the depths of page 4 for a some motivation. The reddun is still in the garage waiting for its new wing amoungst a few bits of welding.
