Re: Timing, mixtures, plugs etc... Advice pls
Ahhhh... Good stuff, looks like another trip to a mechanic... If set incorrectly like mine probably is, will that be the reason for her running like a dog?

Re: Timing, mixtures, plugs etc... Advice pls
I managed to get her running, took out and gapped all my plugs, cleaned em, put me back in, had a fiddle with the air flap thingie under the top intake pipe, and it started, now it runs like a dog and won't idle at all, it will run when I rev it... Hoping this 'new' metering head ain't dodgy... So y...

All the pipes went back one by one, as I took them off my old one, I put them onto the new one... Will open the air box and give the underside of The head a spray with wd40...

Yea checked its getting fuel... Which it is... Well at least to the metering unit, undid a fuel line and it pissed out, so I take that as good... Thought it didn't matter which way the fuel lines go back onto the top of the metering head?

Timing, mixtures, plugs etc... Advice pls
Ok so one problem leads to another, ain't it always the case? Was having running problems as outlined in previous topics, ended up being plugs fouled on my 2.8... Also discovered a trickle of petrol coming from between the 2 plates of the fuel metering head... So here comes the latest problem... I b...

I'm going to lean it off a little tonight, I'll give it a quarter turn anti clockwise from its current position and see how it goes...

Can you access this non return valve in order to lubricate and clean it?
Re: It wasn't the metering head, but whats still up with my
The first lot, were Bosch, then I changed to NGK R plugs, no noticeable difference to me, arpart from the Bosch ones lasted longer, but I am not sure why. At them moment the car Is off the road as I needed the cash elsewhere instead of taxing it, but it was sat up for a month on those Bosch plugs wh...
Re: Anyone got a metering head, or know what's up with my ca
Well well well... New spark plugs in... Running like a dream! So far anyway, I'll give it another go after work tomorrow double check... Seems the passenger side set of plugs, which are around 100-150 miles old have gone black, full of crap and weren't working.. I had all these nightmares about mete...
Re: Anyone got a metering head, or know what's up with my ca
I got some NGK ones in replacement of huge Bosch ones I took out, perhaps this is worth a shot... I'll get some new ones again and see if that works... Cheers
Re: Anyone got a metering head, or know what's up with my ca
Have checked em mate, nothin untoward, they're a bit old but nothin crushed... Literally started from having one dodgy burned out plug, swapped it out, ran fine, went out for a day, came home no probs, parked her up... Thought I'd swap the rest of the plugs to match, so be day later I tried to get h...

It's fecked again pal... Not had chance to double check the 'leak' we spoke about but that's the least of my worries haha
Re: Anyone got a metering head, or know what's up with my ca
I was under the impression there is some sort of plunger that can get stuck, causing misfires, poor fuel delivery etc... I've seen people talk about taking it off and soaking it in wd40 etc... That's ideally what I'd like to do before taking the car to a mechanic...
Re: Anyone got a metering head, or know what's up with my ca
It's the exhaust manifold mate, where it joins the rest of the zorst... I'm not too confident on stripping and investigating my metering head...
Is undoing and 'servicing' the metering hard to do?
How much are your used ones?
