Re: Outer sill replacement

As ever thanks for all the comments guys. I suppose the thing that annoys me the most is that I've had this ole girl that long that I literally watched this happening from the start and took no action to prevent it from getting to this stage and I really should know better considering Capri's are th...

Re: Outer sill replacement

Yeah Wayne , you gotta be thinking "can of worms" if you dont want nasty surprizes . I know that as our cars are appreciating classics money spent doing (or getting done ) quality repairs is a good investment ( take pix ) even tho having to find money for non essentials can be a pain in t...

Re: Outer sill replacement

Thanks for the replies gents, I knew the question was a bit of a stretch as there is no way to tell what's behind them, I'm in a difficult position really as the car on paper is nothing special, she's a 1.6 laser thats been converted to 3 litre with all associated running gear, interior is still las...

Outer sill replacement

Hi everyone,

What should one roughly expect to pay for outer sill replacement these day's? Assuming the inner sill needs 3 or 4 minor repairs, painting not required - just in primer will be fine.

Thoughts please guys

Re: Newbeeeee .....engine size change 1.6 to2.0

Only ever really had one issue with Capri brakes and even then it was my fault. Had a 2.8 injection, removed the Cologne V6 and dropped a 350 Chevy in there, lightly modified - well by American standards and nearly 500bhp so far so good.... If you can imagine point A is the starting point and point ...

Re: rear quarter window sealing

Hi mate, Mine are the same, although the gap seems to get bigger as the outer strip gets closer to where it meets the door strip, always wondered why the area beneath there goes rusty, the area where the rear quarter meets the top of the outer sill just below the side moulding rubbers if the car has...

Re: Parasitic draw

Wayne , I have often thought ... well sometimes ....ok only once .....about the convoluted path from the alt to the battery on the ole Capri ....via the dash charge amp gauge , and there has to be a shunt in there somewhere as theres no way theres 60 amps going thru the printed circuit and gauge . ...

Re: Mk2 3000 S Auto - Auto box warning me?

The only time I've ever had what you describe is when the fluid is low in the slush box. If the fluid is low and there are no visible leaks then the vacuum modulator may have failed, I won't pretend that I know what it really does but I do know that if it fails it allows the engine to suck tranny fl...

Re: Parasitic draw

Hi guys, The alternator is a brand new 65amp jobbie, today I took the near side cluster out again and cleaned up all the connections - can't get inside the spade connectors to clean them though so just the actual cluster connections were cleaned/gently sanded with a nail file. Tomorrow the plan is t...

Re: Ford capri laser 2.0 or capri 2.8i ???

I take it that your not keen on the Essex V6 then! Crank broke, camgear failed, lost pushrods, heads flooded with oil with high pressure oil pump. With tuning camshaft + bettter exhaust gave +15bhb (to 150bhb same as stock 2.8...) and fuel consumption rise to horrible 20l+/100km I agree with ...

Re: Ford capri laser 2.0 or capri 2.8i ???

Have the best of both worlds and get a 3 litre Essex engined Capri instead, no injection system to worry about and more torque than the 2.8 Cologne engine as used in the 2.8 injection and the Essex V6 sounds better too! Wayne 3.0 is like wonky dinosaurus that makes clonking noice because of horribl...

Re: Parasitic draw

I assume you gave the nearside cluster a good check over and clean at the same time? I wont lie, I did check the cluster on the near side for cracking but neglected to clean up the connections  Just took her out about 5 minutes ago and it would seem that heater blower has quite an effect on t...
