..take one or all of the sparkplugs out and decompress the engine - I found it impossible to budge it even a milimeter (I used the push it whilst in gear method tho) with them in place, even in 5th gear.

I hate contact breaker points! Hope you have better luck that I did!

..I love a good drive and it would be excellent to meet you all in person and see whose who. But like I say I am monumentally disorganised... my memory and attention span is feeble for reasons beyond my lowly control.

I was talking to my ex via email and telling her about the car... she comes out with:

You pop the jack on with its foot level with the ground and then start to raise the car and the jack creeps forward onto its toe. I find you have to guess what angle the jack's baseplate will be at once the car is at the height you want it, skew it accordingly and THEN raise it.
