Re: Thinking about a 2.8i
Hi and welcome, Naturally, I think you are entirely picking the right variant, but I am unashamedly biased. What's your budget? If you have more than £5,000 to spend, there are probably better ones out there, though of course that's no guarantee they won't need something spending on them http://www....

Re: 2.8 cutting out on idle
I'm no expert, but I think those that are might need a bit more info to help. I would expect around 1200rpm on idle from a cold start. I suspect people would like to know whether it ran well before this (or whether it has been like this since you got it), and if it did run well before, for how long ...

Re: Anyone have a brooklands for sale?
FFS, buy 2 bumpers and stick them on if you want the best part of £25,000 for it. They aren't expensive.
Re: Clunk!!
I understand too, it really is not pleasant to have something like this happen. I, for one, do hope that it is all resolved. It does remain the fact though that there is recourse. The car was not doing this before, and after somebody fiddled with it, the car is not right. It is any individual's choi...
Re: Clunk!!
I can see why you don't want him to work on it.. However, you paid him to do work and from what you have said, he did it badly enough it will cost you to put right. The description of the work undertaken above, if established, suggests he has performed the work negligently. If the work is negligent,...

Re: Shell for sale
Hi, I know it's easy to say, but how are you fixed for cutting out key bits like roof, boot pan, rear quarters and storing them to sell individually? Maybe an almost complete shell puts people off due to difficulty storing and hassle of cutting it up? If I am right about that, you might find you shi...

Hi Steve. Yep, looks like the very thing, the black seal in the cap around the float chamber.

Re: Wanted - Brake Fluid Cap Rubber Seal
Hi Paul. Not yet, but plan to do so tomorrow due to the hour, as well as post here to get maximum exposure. I got a tab washer from him on Monday, but assumed I could get new seal so didn't ask. As it's not apparently made aftermarket, not sure whether Al would have them but worth a try. Cheers Mike

Wanted - Brake Fluid Cap Rubber Seal
Hi all I did the front brakes on my 2.8 last weekend and predictably, the above seal was a melted pile of gunk. Does anybody have one for sale? Martin is looking for me but hasn't been able to find one. Can't find them in the usual places and Moto Mobil don't have them either. If anybody has one the...

Re: 2.8 braking woes and leaking expansion bottle
I'm no expert but having just done my brakes, sounds like fluid flow issue/air rather than servo for the reason Peter said. Take it that you removed all the old fluid before changing for new? If you're happy with the flexi to caliper pipes (the only thing you haven't mentioned changing or as being h...

Re: Modified or Standard?
I prefer standard on balance, but as has been said it must be down to the owner. I only say it is my preference on balance because I am always glad to see a car that makes me challenge that preference - like Les's for example.

Re: 2.8 braking woes and leaking expansion bottle
Sorry to hear of your problems. I changed my calipers, flexis and flexi to caliper pipes the other day. There will a little travel at the top of the pedal, but should be firm thereafter with little or no travel. How much braking are you getting? Is it stopping properly, and how does is it compare to...

Re: Brand New Fuel Senders
Hi Joe I have the pleasure of being the first to reply to your very comprehensive post. I for one thank you for your hard work and for making these. Fuel senders are a major issue, and particularly for V6 owners. I completely buy into your findings about the 35L. I have noted with interest your comm...

Re: Standard exhaust
Hi Dave I don't have any personal experience of the club system, but the one at £246 looks like it is the closest one to standard that they do. Why not give them a call and ask them for more info? They will be able to advise about how close to original standard it is, and maybe about other products ...
