Re: what you really want is

Yeah this guy says this about it when he's talking about the oil vapour coming out of the cam cover: Having said that if it's not connected to the manifold then it won't make a mess will it hehe? Found that out a couple of weeks ago when I disconnected mine. It blew loads out of the top and made mor...

Re: what you really want is

<t>hmmm sounds cheap and easy! I like it.<br/> So is there no detrimental effects bought about by having no breather system?<br/> I though having a build up of pressure in the crankcase would cause a loss in power since the gases would build up and have nowhere to go.......<br/> That's just me thoug...

Re: nitros

<t>really? Hmmm this seems like more and more of a good idea by the minute!<br/> That's the thing, the kit is set up so it only induces nitrous flow when the throttle is opened completely, and of course could be cut off when you didnt want it, but it's not liek it'd be in constant use.<br/> Obviousl...

Re: Forged pistons = safe nitrous

<t>Yeah a good point. It's one of those things though isnt it?<br/> I mean I'd love to have the time and money to spend on having the heads ported, and to have the cam changed and everything but I don't....<br/> I was tempted just to save up for a new cam (or at least pay SOME of the credit card off...

Re: What type of engine is the pinto ?

Pinto SOHC stands for Single OverHead Cam. For example a DOCH is a Dual(or double?)OverheadCam. CVH-Compound Valve angle Hemispherical chamber Another one of ford's engines that they did in a 1.6......and other sizs but I'm sure that since yours is compatible with the pinto then it'll be one of them...

Re: breather system

<t>Hey the only reason I know is from spending hours with my head under the bonnet on the phone saying 'dad what's this tube thing here that attaches to some black rubber thing?'<br/> <br/> <br/> Basically, and I'm not 100% sure about how to explain this but here goes (if anybody reckons this is wro...

Re: Glyn, you said the throttle linkage needs fetling.......

<t>Mine does that. It's such a big carb that you end up flooding the engine when you pull the choke out. It's a fine art getting it right......without either flooding the damn thing or it making sod all difference....<br/> My carb backfires when cold too, again it's just one of those things they do....
