Re: Advice on funny running

Cheers chaps All the exhaust valves had tightened up, inlets were fine so think it's time to bite the bullet. Pain in the arse though, CK in Wycombe have quoted £3-600 including new seats and valves but can't do it until New Year - just a pain in the balls that it comes when the other one is still b...

Re: Advice on funny running

Braved the cold, took the rocker cover off and surprise surprise, exhaust valve on piston 4 is tight as you like. Couldn't feel my fingers after I'd got to that point so will go and adjust them all properly later, but reality is the head needs new seats so if anyone can recommend somewhere to get th...

Re: Advice on funny running

It wasn't long ago that you did the clearances Danny was it - or was that the other car? If you check the clearances pay particular attention to the exhaust valve clearance on the duffy cylinders - tightness could indicate that the valve seats are receding. To check the torque converter you need to...

Re: Advice on funny running

First test earlier was to swap the spark plugs over, still did the exact same thing so can rule that out
Will try swapping the leads tomorrow, but think I already know the issue is the tappets

Re: Advice on funny running

Could be a knackered torque converter, I have seen C3 converters drag an engine down when they are past there best. How many miles on it? 89k miles Had a 'new' torque converter fitted about 6ish years ago, if it's fucked then no idea what to do as no one makes them anymore!! No they are not made ne...

Advice on funny running

Afternoon all! Tried to take the GL out the other day only for it to decide to run on three cylinders - I figured it was the cold as the inside of the screen was also frosted up! Anyway, went back to it today and seems to have largely fixed itself, adjusted the points as they had closed up a bit and...

Re: RIP Shane Macgowan

I enjoyed reading your gig going exploits there Nick and can certainly relate to it, and your passion for music. I've been to many Metal gigs and there's nothing like the feeling of coming away knowing you've been to a gig, carrying the battle scars (and affected hearing!) for days afterwards. I sa...

Re: Wiring diagram, rear wiper

Not mine but these wiring diagrams are great. Not sure of the chap's name who makes them but full credit to him - godsend for wiring issues. Not sure how the park function works, think it is part of the internal motor system when current is passed through it - it shouldn't just go round and round on...

Re: Seats

Saw some Recaro runners on :ebay: a while back for about £100

Think I paid about half of that about 6/7 years ago

Not sure about seats, depends on condition a lot of the time

Looking good Tom!
Will definitely be worth it once it's all done 👍

Fitting the tank is definitely a two man job isn't it?? Had the same issue when my straps broke, using a jack is the only way I managed it!!
