Re: Thinking about lowering my car

https://i.postimg.cc/nLv3gSrW/20181005-065955.jpg For what it's worth I got Tickover to sort out my suspension for me as B112 was sitting too high for my liking. I wanted to replace the multi leafs anyway with singles so they fitted 2.8 leafs on the rear with 1.5" lower blocks, then 145lb fron...

Thinking about lowering my car

Hello all, been a long time. Getting back into working on my Capri after abandoning it for nearly a year. Need to do some welding around the strut top and while I had the strut out I thought I could get some lowered springs fitted at the same time. :lowrider: Thinking of doing the back too. Currentl...

Re: Repairing Ford Rubber Spoilers

Mine was covered in about five layers of paint and primer. When I got it it was dark purple, under that was primer, and under that was metallic blue and more primer. It was cracking and flaking off, but the spoiler itself was intact. I've been slowly working on it for nearly two years, and I'm only ...

Re: A Sign of the Times

Some people really know how to kill the mood of a light-hearted thread...… Andrew. Yeah it was well light hearted, to keep things on topic the subject of the thread started from a negative reaction to a question that didn't affect the OP's life in any way shape or form, yet for some reason wa...

Re: A Sign of the Times

Want to know what's worse than an extremist feminist? (let's not paint women who fight for equal rights and rightfully stand up to injustices put in place by male politicians who think it's reasonable to tax their periods to the crazy vocal minority SJW types who are offended by literally everything...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Yeah it definitely doesn't seem worth doing all that work to a pinto when you can have something more modern and powerful in its place. I love the pinto but if I had the opportunity I'd rather get something newer with more power out of the box rather than going through all that hassle to soup up a p...

Re: Dislok

Another vote for dislok here. I've had one since owning the car (coming up 5 years now) and it's great. I keep seeing them on other cars far more valuable than a Capri so they must be doing something right.

Re: My hot Capri

Mine used to get hot, it never overheated as I'd turn it off before that happened but it would hit the red on the temp gauge, did all the usual things to try and fix it including adding an electric fan and nothing worked. In the end I fixed it by fitting an upgraded race-spec aluminium radiator. Eve...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

That's a real shame, I'm sorry. I know how depressing it can be when something major goes wrong on your pride and joy that you've put so much work into. Still on the bright at least you have a spare Capri to use in the meantime? (You do have two don't you, or am I imagining that as well? XD) At leas...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

You'll be looking at the followers a lot when adjusting the valve clearances, you can't do it without touching them as it's part of the process. If one of them is loose and causing the rattle, you will discover this when you check the clearance of each valve, because you have to put your feeler gaug...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Haynes manuals are so poorly written.
Basically on each cylinder you want the cam lobe to be pointing upwards when you adjust the valve clearances.
This video explains it quite well, better than the Haynes manual anyway:

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Oh dear, yeah definitely get that rocker cover off and check the valves and the followers. Definitely sounds like something relating to that, i'd also adjust those valve clearances while you're at it as it shouldn't sound that tappety, i know this from my own experiences. Is your car a 1.6 or a 2.0...

Re: anyone know this car A382 KWW?

I'm with Paul G on this one. Unless there's a contractual obligation, or something legally binding, then there's no reason to assume or expect anything from anyone regardless of what may have been promised or agreed upon. This is the real world, people are people, they suck in general, they lie and ...

Re: Heater motor position, is this fast or slow ?

Cool, glad you figured it out. I did that with my fader, as my radio automatically made the old fader switch redundant, but I left it there because it looks better than having a gaping hole on the dash lol.

Re: Heater motor position, is this fast or slow ?

Thanks Andrew. Now for tracing the wires. :ninja: Can anyone remind me which side of the heater the blower motor wires run. Ive got the glovebox out but still cant see the cables ? I thought the cables run down into the middle of the heater box? The heater box is a pain, but I've had mine out sever...

Alright, cool, thanks. I'll have to think about it again and see where circumstances take me. We're also saving up for a move too you see which will also take priority over a shiny new exhaust, and if it means making a compromise and getting the cheaper system in favour of getting the hell out of th...

Re: My first capri, A-REG 2.0 S restoration

Thanks everyone. I'm really chuffed with the results. Now I just have to replace the drivers side door as the hinges are knackered so the door drops everytime you open it and the outer skin is separating from the frame (I already have another door waiting), and get that turbo tail restored and fitte...
