I purchased 4 replacement bolts for the nose sleeve cover that slides over the main shaft - M6 25mm, but the old bolts are M6 20mm. Would the replacements be ok to fit??? Can I bolt on the nose sleeve cover without the ends of the bolts fouling the gear system inside? I'd really apreciate help on th...

Re: Gps Trackers (ebay)

A hidden in line fuel shut off switch. its only about £10. A decent alarm and immobilser, a battery cut off switch and a tracking device is what i'm putting on mine. The tracking devices really work and with all the other measures in place that means that it'll only be taken by lifting it on a low l...

Re: 2.8i front struts/inserts

Now don't know if this answers your question, but here's what was happening on mine. My car at the front would sit low after being left for some time. I had to move it/drive it and the front of the car would 'POP' up violently so i thought i'd have a look and take everything apart. It turned out tha...

Type 9 Gearbox question for you tecchies out there

I've taken off the bellousing. There's a small cylindrical tube on the mating face of the gearbox just below the guide sleeve cover. The replacement paper gasket covers over this tube. Is that right? Also, i've taken the guide sleeve cover off of the mating face and replaced the cork gasket, added a...

Re: Young person insurance...

Well I am an insurance broker in Sutton. It's what i do and have done for 18 years now. See http://www.coops.co.uk. We insure classic cars all over the place and quite a few for the Surrey Capri Club...and it helps that i'm a fan of the old fords too. We insure the Capris from £90 upwards on classic...

Capri 2.8i Type 9 Gearbox question

Tried to remove the speedometer seal last night by smacking the seal with a tiny screwdriver. Fearing that something is going to go drastically wrong - the only way i could see of replacing it was to remove (with hammer and screwdriver) the speedo blanking plate opposite, take out the green cog and ...

I have a 2.8i propshaft - i've taken it off and the centre bearing, when i hit it it spins around the propshaft in an egg shaped oval motion rather than a beautifully circular motion - is this right? Do i need a new prop? 2ndly - I have a type 9 gearbox - the propshaft into gearbox oil seal is leaki...

Where can i get fuel spares and duraspark ignition module

Revamped the air metering unit and hexagonal fuel distributor. I need to buy The soft ally washers that sit around the bolts on the hexgonal fuel distributor 2 washers each. The copper washers sit on on the big bolts that go into the fuel distributor. The banjo fittings that fit onto each bolt. The ...

Re: Dash Bulbs...hellllpppp

Didn't realis how confusing it is. I've looked for the 501 bulbs and it looks like 501 bulbs were in mine as my plastic housings have metled on quite a few of them. The bulbs i've taken out are capless 12v 5w ones but looked like they were too hot. I've removed the crusty blue filters over some of t...

Re: 2.8 poor running

I've looked around - even the schematics of a Bosch 2.8 fuel distributor and i can't see that the tiny filter belongs anywhere inside. The fuel pipes that lead from the distributor to the fuel chambers are in a right mess. Can i get buy these new, or get replacement ones from somewhere? Do they need...

Thanks mate. Nope i won't touch that distributor. I actually went to Raynes Park (near Wimbledon) and there's a steel fastening shop there that sources all the screws i need - really cheap and stainless steel...so got loads now.

Re: 2.8 poor running

Well it's too late for me. I've taken mine apart - I need the gasket as pictured, 6 new screws of unknown size, 6 new split spring washers of unknown size and the silver metering unit as pictured appeared to have a gasket on it that i scraped off. I will need that too. I got the rubber o ring for it...
