I've looked around - even the schematics of a Bosch 2.8 fuel distributor and i can't see that the tiny filter belongs anywhere inside. Thanks mate. Nope i won't touch that distributor. I actually went to Raynes Park (near Wimbledon) and there's a steel fastening shop there that sources all the screws i need - really cheap and stainless steel...so got loads now.

Well it's too late for me. I've taken mine apart - I need the gasket as pictured, 6 new screws of unknown size, 6 new split spring washers of unknown size and the silver metering unit as pictured appeared to have a gasket on it that i scraped off.
