Re: £30K 3.0S
Is it really worth £17.5 K more than this one, even if the stripe is on straight? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/W-REG-FORD-CAPRI-3-0S-4-SPEED-MANUAL/272965247275?hash=item3f8dff212b:g:7MQAAOSw-olaIqZi Buy this £12.5K one and have nearly enough cash left for one of the sub £20K Brookies on the bay. Puts...

Re: Worst Capri
At least the US version stayed in the US, unlike what they did to the MG's at the time when we all had to suffer those horrid rubber bumpers.

Re: Worst Capri
That hideous thing created by Leepu and Bernie on Chop Shop for Laurence Dallaglio must take the biscuit, closely followed by the Tickford. Some of the pick up and van conversions don't float my boat, especially that 6 wheel thing that was mentioned on the forum a couple of weeks ago. As you said th...

Re: Capri Part
It's a rear infill panel that was an accessory that people used to fit between the rear lights to fill in where the number plate usually sits. It should have a mounting kit with it in the box but your first picture isn't very clear. Most of these panels just said "Capri" on them but as you...

Re: Boot wont shut
My laser tailgate sits proud of the rear wings by a couple of mm. It too is a pig to close. Going to wait until a mate of mine is around and then elongate the bolt holes a bit to get it to line up; can't see any other way of correcting it as all hinges and bolt holes are as far forward as they will ...

Re: What a load off.....
Correct. If you look carefully, on the top row is Francis Ellingworth's (Laser on here) white Laser and his wife's cobalt blue 2.0S below it. These were two of the cars on this year's club stand at the NEC.

Re: Project "Scorpio"
Looks like a good project and the Capri looks great. I agree with what Andrew said about using the 2.8i power steering rack - possibly some 2.0(V6) and 2.3(V6) models in Europe were also fitted with power steering. If your Scorpio engine is a fuel injected you will also have to fit a 2.8i fuel tank ...

Glad it's sorted now even if your wallet took a bashing. I think we all know how that feels from time to time.

They were being made by a member called "Big J" or Joe as his real name is. He goes by Big J on CP as well.Caprigear wrote:Unfortunately I can't find out who supplies these so you'll have to go through Capri Club or Retroford. I would like to find out though.

Re: Door speakers
Hi Notanumber, I've only ordered the speakers today so don't yet know. I think 4" speakers should easily screw into the bracket under the shelf in the same way as the OE ones.
Will repost when I get them.

Re: FWD CAPRI ANYONE?
When the Capri ceased to be made, someone wanting an affordable RWD coupe could have still bought the Manta and also the Nissan 200SX which was a good handling, fast, RWD coupe. Neither sold brilliantly though as the XR3i, Golf GTi and Astra GTE etc were the flavour of the time.

Picture of an 097 for sale on ebay. It shows the square terminals which all Fords up to about 1990 had. It just is more original for the car. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pline-097-12V-Square-Post-Car-Battery-fits-many-Ford-Fiesta-Escort-Granda-Sierra/253245179779?epid=9008778993&hash=item3af696c7...

Re: Door speakers
Thanks John and Andrew for your replies. I will get one of the original speakers out and measure the depth of it. Nice as they are I'm afraid I can't justify spending too much as I just don't use the radio or cd very often, I'm not someone who likes music on all the time. I'm sure there are some out...

I think we should all thank Martin for bringing on solutions for previously unobtainable parts, what with these cylinders and I'm sure he was instrumental in getting Magnums to make the tanks.

Thanks for the replies gents.
Has anyone used these before? They seem to be the ones with the shortest depth at 42 mm.

Door speakers
Can anyone tell me what size are the original factory door speakers in a Laser? They're probably the same as 2.8i and other models factory fitted with door speakers. Haven't got the door cards off at the minute but if they're as bad as the rear ones then I'm going to renew the lot. Not worried about...

Nice looking 2.8i for £4000. Only 112000 miles on the "cock" says the ad!
