Yeah it doesn't do it at all now!
<t>..it was such a tiny, menial thing that I just didn't bother checking.. you know, it was too simple to think about. But yes, seems to be cured.<br/> <br/> But to be honest, I think someone's been dicking around with sparkplugs whilst the engine's been hot, as they don't seem to have much 'grip' a...

So simple it was the last thing I checked.

LoL yes, you summed it up well there Haydn..
<t>..yeah, you're underneath the car with a socket, always a bloody socket because there's so many things which can go wrong with them and you realise that the extension you've got is too long, or not long enough, and therefore you need to use the ill-fitting imperial .5inch socket, which doesn't qu...

<t>But I'm so hard that I just stick my foot onto the front wheel when I want to stop, like Indiana Jones, but harder.<br/> <br/> No, what's really happened is that the two rubber rings under the resevoir have perished and fluid very slowly oozes out.. I top it up every month or two, but these parts...

I could be wrong, but..
<r>..I believe the fuel pump is driven by a little thrusting shafty rod thing which plunges in and out of the pump, actuating the mechanism. When this starts to wear out it can sound quite rattley.<br/> <br/> ...I haven't actually checked my own engine for this yet.. I'm going to have a listen after...

What a poorly written sentence.
It is supposed to say:
But surely tappets would be a continuous noise and not one which would keep disappearing and reappearing?
Yeah that makes more sense.

And you're certain it's coming from the camshaft area?
coz like I say, I had to have a really good listen to mine to ensure it wasn't coming from there. Mine seems to be coming from below, the waterpump sort of area, but it is difficult to pinpoint.

Does it disappear at tickover or at a certain RPM?
Because my tappety ticking does. Therefore.. Haydn.. I think said actually.. reckoned that it wasn't tappets, as that is a continuous noise.
I had a good listen at my oil filler cap too and got an oily ear making sure it was not coming from the rocker cover area.

<r>Yeah that looks really nice! And nice in a good way, the same way the new Charger looks.<br/> <br/> Why are all the good concepts rendered by someone not involved with the company?!? Juicy wheels dude!
They really tie everything together. You've got such a sweet motor there, can't believe you do 25k / year in it.. I do about the same, but keeping the scabs of rust from popping up is becoming a weekly task.. but it looks great considering. I want to show my car off now. What have you done with your...

because I smashed one of my slotmags to pieces on a kerb and my hubs are ok. Maybe that's the difference though.. my wheel cracked where yours buckled and transmitted more force to the hub. Tough break man, sorry to see / hear / read that
