Re: Here's another bargin

My line will always be, get an independent specialist to check out a prospective car. Hi, I totally agree. Especially when the car in question is this expensive. However, we don't know who bought the car and whether they read the forums or have had an independent specialist inspection. As you wrote...

Re: Never seen one of these before???

Hi Neil,
Great find, and thanks for posting the details.
I think it looks kind of.....alright.....sort of!
I think it might be a bit of a wild ride though, especially with "a fair bit of play in the steering".

All the best,
Andrew.

Re: Here's another bargin

The problem is, every magazine and article it's ever been in says it's the real deal..purely based on what the owner told the magazines. Hi, No doubt that the car was sold with a copy of the magazines as added provenance that it's a genuine car. I hope that you don't mind me asking, but are you ass...

As wiki pages can be edited by anyone, can you just add a photo of your car to the site, should you wish?

Re: A reg capri spotted in Bedworth near Nuneaton

Hi Dan, I hope you get the job in the car spares shop. Will that mean we can get our spares at trade prices? :) Weren't you in the Capri when you spotted the red one? I love it when I spot a Capri owner I don't know and we exchange cheery waves and flash our lights at each other. Most of the time, a...

Re: Wiper Blades - Correct Sizes

Ii now know the correct sizes for the wiper blades for a mk3 capri so i can get the correct ones next time thanks. :D Hi Dan, With the greatest of respect, you could have simply measured the old wiper blades before buying the new ones. It would have saved having to go back to GSF to exchange them. ...

Hi Sam, An interesting post in this thread. 13th post down, author Matty28i: http://www.fordcapriforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3910&p=25206&hilit=speedo+24+tooth#p25206 It lists all the FINIS codes for the different speedo gears, but also says that the correct gear for the 1.6 has...

Re: Still looking for a 1.6 speedo drive gear

Hi, Martin is correct. When I bought mine from Burton, when it arrived it was still in the little Ford bag. I did ask at a Ford dealer and the 22 tooth gear was £22. However, I suspect that if the 24 tooth one was still available, Burton would list it. It's still worth asking, just in case. If you d...

Re: Well the Capri finally went in for an MOT and...

Hi, I did a quick bit of searching and in most cases "not flashing in phase" means not working. When you tried the hazards, did you try them with the ignition on and off? If they worked for you but not for the test, there might simply be a loose connection on the switch or relay. The relay...

Re: Well the Capri finally went in for an MOT and...

Hi, Sorry to hear about your car failing the MOT. The hazard lights thing is down to some weird wiring in the car, all I can think is one of it's previous owners has changed something on the ignition barrel as the clock stops ticking when you take the key out That wouldn't account for the hazards no...

Re: Brand New Fuel Senders

Hi,
Thanks for keeping us posted with the latest updates.
Well done to the chap concerned for getting some fuel senders manufactured. It's good to see that a solution to this age-old problem is tantalisingly close. There's nothing wrong with mine, but I am considering purchasing a back-up.

More gauges usually equals better. Not in this case, I definitely prefer the Capri instruments.

Hi,
I've just researched it and headlight washers were an optional extra on earlier Mk3 Capris. I'm certain that option was deleted by the time the 2.8 was introduced though.

Steve,
The Firenza/ Magnum 2300 supposedly topped 120MPH. Maybe it had a different speedo fitted, calibrated to a higher amount.
