Re: Fuse box queries

For the sake of the cost of new fuses (pennies) I replaced them all a few years ago. Several were the wrong rating and most were very fragile, which caused issues. A very good idea. If you can also spray a bit of switch cleaner on the fuse box. Corrosion can set in between the brass bits that hold ...

.. or just get enough work done to get her through another year's MOT and sell her for a bit more if you need the money. Spend a hundred or so to get another thousand back. Despite the desire to hang onto a car and the sense of failure it can bring having to sell something you really weren't plannin...

Re: Instrument illumination

Personally I just preferred the light from the green tinted standard bulbs when I tried them back to back. If I hadn't have bought them Id probably have been satisfied with the LEDs though, nothing wrong with them really.

Re: Instrument illumination

DONT try to force the blue lenses out at the side without unscrewing one of the instruments on each side to make space. Someone told me the blue lenses were so fragile they would disintegrate soon as i pushed them with a screwdriver - Nooo don't try this. The 2 lenses that are top and bottom of the m...

Re: Rear brake drum removal

Do check that yours doesnt have the screw in place holding the drum on. You do find the occasional owner who gets the idea into their head to fit one if there is a hole in the drum for it Otherwise; rotate the drum, pull on one side of the drum, rotate the drum a bit more, pull on the other side, ro...

Re: Handbrake adjustment

The state of components plays a large part in the how many clicks the handbrake has to be setup with. On a previous Capri I found I always needed it adjusted to at least 6 clicks to avoid the shoes rubbing against the drums when the handbrake was off. Mine now works perfectly on 3 clicks. The differ...

Re: Fuse box queries

Clockwork Orange knows a thing or two about Capri electrics and has produced his own diagrams which are a lot better to read than in the Haynes manual and more accurate too. Start with: http://www.capripower.co.uk/forum/index ... ngs.21510/

Re: Handbrake adjustment

It is very easy to adjust once you've found it. The outside of the cable itself is a coarse thread which the adjuster winds along to take up the slack. Some would say it's always worth checking the adjusters on the brake drums first. To do that you would slacken them off (Haynes manual covers it) th...

put a multimeter on the connections. get someone to operate the horn button.

If its not the horn then check the fuses and then check the switch itself.

Re: Mk3 2.0 laser restoration advice

it might be worth buying pattern part wings and cutting them up for use as repair sections. You'd then have the best of both worlds, solid wings which fit the car still.

Re: Axle location kit help

Ive got one I bought a couple of years ago and have never fitted.

I later read they can cause damage to the leaf springs over time so decided to leave the thing in it's box to gather dust. Not sure why i thought it was a good idea at the time. More clutter to sell on really.

You dont get charged for posting here so why not post a bit more about it .

Generally on here the term 'bubbles' is usually followed by 'needs a bit of work'. It could do with more explanation.

My daughter in law had one for a while and loved it. They go like stink and handle superbly.
Change the oil and spark plugs regularly. Try not to restart when the engine is still warm and you should be fine.

Re: Mk3 2.0 laser restoration advice

As others have said, original cars tend to keep their value better so by definition it would be good to make any modifications reversaable, keep the bits that have been removed. There was a phase of people removing the side trims from Lasers, Ls's, GL's etc and fitting S stripes in their place, ther...
