Re: Laser + GL and now a 3.0S!

It doesn't look too bad for a car that is used daily, it's done quite well. All the ferret oxide on it is quite fixable. It's about on a par with how my Laser was, maybe a bit worse in places.

I swear I've still got one of those somewhere. I can't remember the name of it. Probably in one of the boxes of crap that I will have to get rid of to move to a smaller house.

Re: Noise from exhaust

rattles from the bellhousing/clutch area are often the flywheel bolts coming loose. Worrying! How does that come about, poor rebuilds? Hopefully not from Cologne? No, as far as I understand they just vibrate loose after several years of use.. Usually a drop of loctite and re torquing does the job, ...

Re: Noise from exhaust

Hi guys, thought I would update you all. Had someone else look at the car and they said take the starter off and take another look. It would appear that the bendix doesn't return when it is pulled out and it's loose on the shaft which I suspect is causing the rattling. Could this be caused by a fai...

I just don't understand what possesses people to do that. They must be deranged.

Car probably started life as a funeral car. It needs its own funeral now. :( :(

When i was a kid that was the only type of mower mum had. Qualcast I think. When we moved to the bigger house they bought a Wolf electric rotary mower which we had for years until I bought a petrol self drive one.

Nah , scot two legs ,just saw me and .....smart arse😁 Seriously , they often do this and if you force them to move they lower the rest of their undercarriage, but , you do see the odd one with half a leg . I spose fish bite them off , they will go for red lures or soft baits at the surface so they ...

Re: ULEZ advice

I just hope for the sake of London's motorists that at the next Mayoral elections some other party commits to getting rid of this pernicious tax and that a majority of people in the leftly liberal pinko capital have the common savvy to vote for said other party. Hit these bastard wayward politicians...

:agree: It's already detached from it. Certainly the media type Londoners think the world ends at Hampstead or Wimbledon.

I remember the first time I drove a MK3. I was used to Cortinas and MK1 Cavaliers but I drove this fairly new 1.6GL and couldn't believe how much more powerful it seemed compared to the others.

Re: ULEZ advice

It wouldn't be mint for long getting bashed around on the streets of London. Probably be parked at the roadside too so picking up dents and scrapes as well as rust. Worries me a bit that people think getting a classic is a way round ULEZ, the CO readings would go up and Ghengis Khan would find anoth...

£187K for two cars? You could buy a bloody house in many parts of the country for that. Ridiculous for any car, regardless of its provenance.

A bug in the forum?

Has anyone else had trouble seeing the forum after logging in? For the last couple of days all I have had is a load of circle type images over what was written. Am I doing something stupid?

It's not easy to have conversations with left wing leaning folk I find.. they descend into anger more easily. My right-wing leaning mates are more receptive to debate, they understand people have different opinions, whereas my lefty mates struggle more with that concept. So true Tom, especially PC ...

It's gone too far Andy, this cancerous PC and wokeness. Same warning on each Aint half hot Mum show when frankly all it's for is Windsor Davies calling them poofs which was certainly a term used when I was younger for someone a bit soft and not just the homosexual meaning. I will never use the "...

My winning bid estimate is £95,000

My guess is similar, maybe a bit less at say £85 -90K. Lifetime of work amongst that lot though.
