Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.

A crank regrind wouldn't change anything, but as Stroker says when the girdle is fitted the main bearing housings would be line bored which would remove material from the block and close up the center line between the crank and cam. I've had this done without problems, but maybe they removed too mu...

Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.

That's possible Stroker, but with a crank regrind wouldn't the undersize shells keep the crank where it was? The gears are probably machined to tighter tolerances but with a used crank gear they surely shouldn't be so tight that the engine barely turns over? It would run the cam bearings out in a ve...

Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.

I have this one http://www.burtonpower.com/cam-gear-all-steel-type-v4-v6-taunus-tv1419.html and it doesnt fit my 2.8 THERE is no clearance at all. If I put it engine barely rotates at all. It needs to be hammered to fit. Standard camgear fits fine, there is also clearance that it should have. Bit s...

Major Cock up

I could happily go and jump off a bridge and throw my f**ing Laser off with me. Last Saturday I sprayed the right hand side and the front panel;- the paint went on lovely and would only need minor denibbing and a mop polish. Thought I was well on the home straight towards finishing it. Yesterday I r...

Re: Del Boys Capri

.[/quote] Yes, the genuine car would be worth a premium over a standard car to an OFAH nut. But mange tout! Isn't the newspaper article speculating how much Del, as a person, is worth these days? Therefore the valuation applies only to a standard car. By my reconing, the car is a 2.0S. Andrew.[/quot...

Re: Del Boys Capri

If the Minder Capri sold for £65K or whatever it was then the Del Boy one must surely be worth a substantial amount too - well over what a standard GL or Ghia or whatever it is. I agree about Porterhouse Blues, it was a load of :wank: and I only watched a few minutes of one episode - that was enough...

Re: Suspension / Brake options for Cstom Capri MkI project;

I don't think there are that many people on this forum with vehicles as wildly modified as you are proposing (although there are a few) and you may get more help from Capri World on Facebook or Capri Power www.capripower.co.uk Sounds like an interesting modification you are proposing and good luck w...

I saw a programme a couple of years ago about snowplough drivers try to clear the Applecross pass. It looked rather different when covered in 6 feet of snow.

Bet it's a lovely road to drive though.

Re: Capri 2.8 spitting coolant

Before you absolutely condemn the radiator, why don't you try taking it out, turning it upside down and running the hose throught it. You may be amazed at what may come out. Also check your expansion bottle cap is good or substitute a new one for the sake of a few quid. Finally one item not to be ov...

Re: Oil Filters

Thanks Neil, they are off the list permanently then in that case :) Main thing with all filters is to make sure they have a non return valve in them. This stops the oil draining back to the sump when the car is at rest and gives a quicker supply to the engine's galleries when it is re started. Back...

Re: Oil Filters

Not sure about the crossland ones although they are a long established company, but all the rest are good. I've got Mann ones, had a deal with my local motor factors and bulk bought them (10) for £2 each. They are white too, like a Ford one. Hengst are a good German company and make OE filters for m...

Re: Power steering

I was just wondering why it was making the grinding noise Try draining and changing the fluid then bleeding the system. To do this have the front wheels jacked up and slowly turn the steering wheel lock to lock. Do this 4 or 5 times at least. Power steering generally uses automatic transmission flu...
