Hi Jim,
Presumably you mean if one were to snap? Good point, but the chances of that happening with new springs fitted is lessened, I would have thought.

Re: DIY ringing kit anyone?

I think reporting this sort of thing to ebay is a waste of time as they like the profit it earns them. Are the Police interested? I suspect not, as no crime has been committed selling this stuff :banghead: Hi Neil, The way I understand it, the VIN can legally be sold as motoring memorabilia, howeve...

A bit late for Dan's theory exam, but good advice for the practical test.

Re: DIY ringing kit anyone?

car would have to have an MOT, as the shell's gone there isn't much chance of that happening, unless the VIN plate "fell" onto another car just as it landed at the MOT station. Hi, That is possible, does the MOT tester actually check the chassis number or VIN plate? If the car is the same...

Re: Leaf springs?

Hi, The single leaf springs will make the car sit a little lower than the multi leaf versions. You may have to lower the front to suit, unless you are keen on the 70's jacked-up look! There should be a benefit in roadholding with single leaf, but perhaps at the expense of some ride comfort. I'm not ...

Hi Nick, Is this new T-shirt made from unshrinkable fabric? I would hate to think that this one will mysteriously become too tight, as the old oe did? :) believe it or not, I am NOT ALLOWED to get this printed because the use of the text "ford" is no longer accepted due to legal reasons I ...

Re: Been told off!!!

Hi,
Have you thought of training him to crawl under the car to do the jobs where access is limited for an adult? :)
Seriously, I think it's fantastic that he's getting involved and spending time with his Father. He's sure to fondly remember
these times in future years.

Re: Tomorrow she's off for the works!

Toby, Thanks for posting photos of the start of the resto, fortunately your car doesn't look too bad to begin with. In saying that, it's good to see an owner who is willing and able to do what it takes to preserve their car. I see from the photos that you managed to get the dash out, I hope you are ...

Re: Aluminium Radiator

Don't know what I was looking at when i first looked at it, on closer inspection it's not that good, the fan symbols are ok but the arrows are far too small and the quality is poor Dave, Here's hoping that Spireman can produce a more accurate copy as discussed on the other thread. If not, there's a...

I can't help noticing that the VIN plate looks like new, considering that the rest of the car was "absolutely rotten"....

Glad I stumbled across this topic as I'm pretty sure 90% of the bulbs in my dash have blown! Which is a great excuse to strip it down and carry out this brilliant enhancement! Thanks a bundle! Tom. Hi Tom, Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you like the guide. I can honestly say that the LED upgrad...

Hi Toby,
It sounds like you have big plans for your Capri. As I"m sure you are aware, sometimes this sort of work takes a little longer than planned, but hopefully it will be finished in time for you to enjoy the show season.
All the best,
Andrew.

Re: Pressed Metal Number Plates

These do look really lovely, but I notice they are using the "modern" 2000s narrow font. Hi Noel, I was thinking the same about the font of these plates. In my mind I associate original 80's metal plates with a squarer font. Thanks for posting that link, i'm going to see if they have anyt...

I know we would have screwed them on back in the 80's, but think the clean look of no screws looks better :? I've seen some on a Capri without screws and they looked great Neil, I'm definitely going to screw mine on. I'd be worried about them falling off otherwise! I'm going to order some at the we...

Re: This makes me mad!

My fave story; once used to be a medium sized roundabout on a main road into Manchester. Very busy in the day, a woman realises she`s missed the turn for Salford; rather than go round again she stops (in the outside lane) and starts to reverse back - against all the trucks, buses..... Great story! ...

Hi Dan,
Once you pass the theory and practical tests, you'll wonder how you ever managed before.
Good luck with your theory test, hope you pass.
