Re: For MJ Capri

I recall a dull streamlined thing, had some descriptive letters, APT I think! and something called a Deltic. Wife said it was really ugly :o The APT at Shildon is the gas turbine powered one, I'll add that form of propulsion to the 'proper' list! The Deltic is very nice, I've had a walk through it ...

Re: For MJ Capri

You’re welcome. It’s a good museum isn’t it. Hopefully you saw some proper trains with diesel engines and/or electric motors! I recall a dull streamlined thing, had some descriptive letters, APT I think! and something called a Deltic. Re: BSC/BTCC

Strictly speaking a significant portion of the field aren’t actually saloon cars even now. I can think of the Infiniti’s, Beemers (3 series), Audi’s and VW’s straightaway as proper saloons, and ill give the (FK8) Hondas the benefit of the doubt based on overall shape. Likewise the new Hyundai’s, I’m...

Re: Is it just me....

I’ve been Capri-less for a few years now, I didn’t fall out of love with them but I gradually got more interested in modern Fords and at the time couldn’t have both so the Capri(s) went. I now have a very rotten Sierra and a fairly rotten Granada instead.... For me, as frustrating as it is whe...

Re: BRITAIN'S MOST BORING CAR

Whenever I see a Vauxhall Meriva I always think it’s the definition of joyless transport.... Then again most Vauxhall’s are like that, I have occasionally had to suffer Astras and Insignias as hire cars and they are frankly shocking cars to drive by today’s standards. I also think Dacias look rather...

Re: Cologne camshaft comparison side by side - anyone know?

Your new one looks like a high(er) lift profile. You’ll probably loose some torque but gain bhp at high revs.

Re: Accelerator cable and engine paint

If you’re going to paint them I’d just use the same method as the block, you may well find it works ok. I’ve just never bothered painting them but actually I’d like to paint the heads off my Sierra as it’s a full resto so I’d be interested to see how successful it is (not using you as a Guinea pig h...

Re: White Goods

This has just appeared which sort of ‘proves’ the point I made previously (check out no.2 on the list): https://www.topgear.com/car-news/hot-hatch/gallery-11-best-hot-hatches-all-time-tg24-2019#1 I’m sure everybody would shuffle the order or have some different nominations of their own, but I suspec...

Re: Accelerator cable and engine paint

Regarding the paint, it’s all in the prep. Give the block and anything else you’re painting a thorough clean and degrease and then prime it (I’ve found etch primer works fine on engines, U-POL is a brand I use). With the right prep any engine/high temp paint should be fine, I don’t paint the heads a...

Re: White Goods

The V8 Mustang is the only new car I would want to buy, but they are so big they hardly fit in any uk garage, so would have to block our already quite narrow driveway and who knows when the tax on that car will rocket :spank: Had 2 Focus ST and did consider a Mk2 RS but decided to get the Capri ins...

Have to agree really - not much released now that excites me... Re: CRaP 2020 July 3/4/5 - postponed

They'll have to pipe it into people's houses. Line clearing will be a bit of a pain though. Haha still less painful than pouring it down the drain! Some water authorities were actually making a fuss about it, such was the volume being poured away.... I can’t make the first weekend in September, lat...
