Re: Car of the week - any one know it?
I think I've seen it before in the CCi mag, possibly photographed at one of their shows.

Re: Next Year will be the 50th Anything Happening?
I've just noticed that the date for the 50th anniversary bash is on a Sunday. That's a shame as, if I remember correctly, the 45th anniversary gathering was on a Saturday, and was hoping that the same might be true for the 50th. Oh well, it looks like I'll have to book some time off work for the fo...

Re: Salvage Hunters Classic Cars
Andrew - you could never cause me any offence! By saying "you" I meant anyone reading the post.
Looking forward to meeting you sometime when I've got one of mine on the road as well hoping to meet some of the other regulars on here before long.

Re: Salvage Hunters Classic Cars
I saw it for the first and last time last night. What an obnoxious :wank: that Drew is. All he said was me me me and I I I. Horrible little poisoned dwarf. Wow Paul! Did he sell you some antique furniture that later turned out to be reproduction or something? Andrew. If you ask any of...

Personally I would have left the 4 headlamp grille on the Golf as it was a period extra and sourced the correct alloys or a set of the silver ri...

Still got a Ewbank like that stuck up in the spare room along with an old but still working Hoover Constellation vacuum cleaner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O82VA87g4o Note the woman doing the vacuuming! I remember mum had a single tub washing machine at our old house with a mangle on the top o...

Re: Ford capri 1977 3.0s resto
Love the car I love the silver paint job and I must admit that “ S “ is in the wrong place as you don’t say 3.0 S No that is correct. Here's a link to a 1977 Capri brochure. That should clear all questions up. EDIT Link not working. Picture from brochure instead. https://s18.postimg.org/6zlo7m8jd/c...

It's still gorgeos!
The only thing I would have done different is to paint the sills and number plate surrounds in satin black as per factory but I think it actually looks better as you have it.

Re: Some sad sights
The problem was that the names were carved up like a Christmas turkey. Riley is owned by BMW, as is Triumph. Rover is owned by JLR (read TATA).
The rest are owned still by the Chinese including the model names - Montego, Minor etc.

Re: Daewoo
I remember that I was in Kuala Lumpur in Malasia the first time I saw a Daewoo. It was a year or so before they started selling them here and the Asian and Australian market versions at the time were direct Astra MK2/Opel Kadet copies without the restyling that European versions had. I've worked on ...

Re: Some sad sights
Seems strange that when the garage closed the cars weren't sold in the trade, auctioned or scrapped at the time. All of them are quite rare now and just beginning to get collectable, even the Lada Samara, so perhaps someone will save them. With the Longbridge film it still angers me what the Phoenix...

Lovely cars both of them but just think that for the price of them added together you could buy a house in some parts of the country!

Re: Inner wing mudshields
The inner mud shields come with threaded holes that bolt through where the bracket is behind the wheels that secures the wing to the inner arch. The securing brackets need removing (can be a pig as the blts are usually rusted in) and then mudsheilds fit in and bolt in these holes. You will then need...

44/49. Slipped up on the American stuff. Got the Capri right though!
What were the Americans thinking of when they built some of those big fat ugly whales?

Probably did 156 kilometers per hour in it's day. (97mph)
To my eyes it looks like the rear would be more problematic to put right than the front.

I've had bother with their condensers, mainly on BL and other makes of cars though.pbar wrote:I have other Intermotor parts, such as points, which have always been great, just that coil I had trouble with!

Re: A decent coil
I agree about Intermotor not being the quality that they used to be. My laser has a Lucas DLB 102 on it which seems fine and contrary to some people's experiences i've not seen a lot of problems with Lucas coils. It keeps the standard terminals too. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lucas-DLB102-12...
