Re: fuel system
The 2.8 is a high pressure system, if air was present it`ll soon be forced out and you`ll get a misfire on start up for a very short period, such as when you change the metering head or injectors, I had the pleasure of changing mine for 6 units I was testing, all of them popped and farted at start u...

I`ve seen grooved drums! Some engineering place in the midlands did it then sold them on ebay a few yrs ago, I`ll see if I can dig a pic out, by the way, completely useless and a total gimmic.

Re: racer or downsize?
Its all hoo haa anyway! You`ll downsize and save some MPG, and be happy, till some tool in a 1.1 saxo beats you from the lights and then it`ll be fast road cams, porting the head and some carb fetling! ha I know this from experiance

Re: racer or downsize?
I was always impressed at my daily 2.8, still managed to do 28-32mpg as a daily hack, but the 2.0 pinto is the way to go if you want to stay standard its better on fuel than the 1.6 too.

Last couple of years there have at least been a couple - think it was the year before last I spent a while taking to a chap who was regretting putting aover v8 in his because all the parts were so costly. I dunno about that, he needs to get intouch with rimmer brothers, I got a load of parts for my...

Re: Response from Shell regarding Ethanol content of V-Power
Thats what I`m saying diesel OIL should be more than able to lube its self and protect parts, so why does two stroke have such an effect?! When I 1st read about it I was also in serious doubt, but it turns out its a very common trick for ford/jag diesel owners. One old boy says hes used baby oil sin...

Re: Response from Shell regarding Ethanol content of V-Power
Heres an odd additive, some owners of diesel jaguars add 2 stroke oil to the fuel, apparently it stops piston slap and seriously reduces the noise of the engine, plus it lubes the pump and injectors! I dont own a diesel so can`t say owt, but that tells me that something is now missing from diesel or...

Re: 2.8 Capri still overheating ???
So physically your car doesnt overheat? Randomly, does your fuel gauge have a mind of its own or give flase readings? The voltage regulator controls the temp gauge and the fuel gauge, if it goes wrong it can cause the fuel level to raise and the temp to fall or the temp to raise and the fuel to fall...

Re: what engine to put in 1.6 Laser?
Theres only one capri Shell, they are all the same, the V6 shells have strengthening and plates under the back seats for the exhaust hangers, the V6 engine crossmembers shove the engine backwards a bit so the gear stick ends up in the same place, I`ve had a 2.3 and 2.8 cologne in a 2l auto chassis w...

Flat headed screwdriver, bend the end in a vice, remove the prop and fish it out then push the new one in, prepare to have a liter of dirty gearbox oil in your hair and wear gloves!!

Re: Can a exhaust leak by the manifold cause a misfire?
Is this missfire rythmic? from reading this thread I`m getting the impression it is, if its the same cylinder missing all the time regardless of plugs, leads etc I`d be more inclined to do a compression test on all cylinders and check valve clearences, if they are equal or close Id then move to dizz...

Re: Alarm and central locking fitting info...
The door motors are faily simple to work out, take the door cards off, look at the pin on the door to lock the door, the rod moves up and down, you need to clamp your arms from the motors onto these arms and your done. Should be easy enough, as for getting power. Have a look at the fuse box instead,...
