Re: Door cards

Someone else was looking for a set of white strobe door cards a week or so ago.

Caprigear Martin popped up to say he had some but im not sure if the guy ever came back to him. Id give Martin a shout to see if he still has them.

Re: Rear Axle

From his other posts he seems to have a 1.6 Mk3 that he is looking to drop a 2 litre in. Its not clear which ratio diff he is after as either would do the job just with a slightly different emphasis on acceleration or cruising.

Re: Leaking fuel line HELP!

If in doubt get Tickover or Martin to quote you for the right size and length you need to do all of it plus all the jubilee clips you need. It wont be expensive and it will give peace of mind. Get the right type of fuel hose and it will last for decades. It isnt a difficult job to do: ensure the eng...

Re: Rear leaf springs

If you do change the bushes its a good opportunity to replace with with good poly (urethane) ones that do the job better than rubber, last much longer dont cost much more and tend to be easier to fit. A low cost handling improvement whilst you are taking parts of the suspension apart.

Re: Specialised Engines

A cam will help make the engine feel a bit more lively, mine has one fitted by the previous owner, but ive lost the note of what it is. The engine still ticks over evenly, is very progressive through the rev range but just has a little bit more pep when it's pushed than as standard. Id say its only ...

General Grabber tyres, the opposite of low profile in any sense. I had a set on my first car a Vauxhall Firenza in the early 80's, Remember spending ages with a small brush re whitening the letters.

Re: Specialised Engines

I get your point entirely. In which case have you thought about the turbo route. The original Turbo Technics Capri used the standard engine in fact the car was pretty standard otherwise all round. Recreating one of these would need some creative parts sourcing as there isnt a complete kit of parts o...

Re: Specialised Engines

Its worth using the search function on here and the other capri forum to see what modifications others have done - and the ones they regard as successful. The chances are that whatever you are thinking of doing has been looked into in detail by several people over the years, some carried out and oth...

Re: Lock down jobs...

What prep did you have to do to the steering wheel leather before applying the dye ? I want to tackle mine but the surface of the leather looks too rough in a couple of places.

Re: Gear lever removal

The console was easy enough to remove - once id worked out the small plastic tray/ trim behind the gearstick had to be pulled out to get to the fixing screws under it. I was surprised at the amount of bare metal on the underside of the console. Whilst I had it out for a clean I primed and painted th...

Thats a nice blue Carla interior on that.
Never know why they deleted the choice of Carla trim in 1983 leaving buyers with just shark grey.

By the way who is Matt ?

These are usually moulded onto the end of the wire linkage. I think it was only the early ones that could be unscrewed.

Re: Brown gl interior and parcel shelf

If Martin cant source you a brown parcel shelf you may need to go down the route of a CCI shelf, spray it with brown flexible trim paint and add sections of brown needlecord carpet to the top.
