Re: wher to buy INNERSILLS

how comes inners seem to be so much more expensive and harder to find than the outers? I think the reasons would be that there is less demand for inner sills and Expressed panels are the only company that make them. Further, Expressed panels are hand made to a high quality and would fit straight on...

Re: 205/60r13 tyres

I just bought four 185/70 13's for my Laser - Landsail brand at £109 for the four delivered. Went down to my mate's garage and slipped him a tenner to use his machines and put them on myself. A work pal had Landsail tyres on his car and they were ok, no problems and I'm not going to drive like a twa...

165 R 13 were standard and 185/70's were a £55.97 option according to my early 1984 brochure!!!!

Re: 5/16 vaccum hose

I wouldn't use any other hose other than correct vacuum hose as it's designed especially to withstand collapsing in on itself whereas normal hose is not and is designed to not expand or blow out under pressure. You should be able to get some from a good local motor factors, most "old school&quo...

Re: Modernising the Ford Capri

:agree: If you want all that electric trickery then stick to your Focus or buy a modern sports coupe like the Scirrocco. If you still want a Capri then upgrade your arm and leg muscles and learn to drive one as it was intended.

Re: Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars Series 2

I've got a big soft spot for the P6 Rovers as I grew up with them. My dad had five of them between 1963 and 1976, all of them white, then had had his first SD1 V8 in !976 which was like a spaceship in comparison. The first Sd1 was brilliant, 80,000 miles in two years but the second in 1978 was a pil...

Are Zeibart still around as a company? That would be a good starting point if so.

If you have any luck getting some please let us know as I will need some for my 3.0S when I get on with it.

Re: Interesting.....

I've studied this car quite a bit as it reminds me of Jack Reagan's Consul GT. Something doesn't ring right with me about this example and I'm wondering if it's a South African import purely because I think the interior is all wrong for a Euro/UK spec GXL. The UK ones had an immitation wood surround...

Re: thermostat housing advice please.

Jason, before you go throwing good money on new parts may I suggest that you loosen the coolant hose clip about a quarter of a turn and then re-tighten it. Clean the old crud off it then give it a while (ie a few weeks) and see if it comes back or is leaking. What anti-feeeze are you using? Capri's ...

Re: Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars Series 2

Don't usually watch this show as I don't like Drew :wank: Pritchard but made an exception because of the cars covered in it. I did learn that 82 model 2.0s had lazer striped Recaro's with fishnets which was a new one on me, I thought most of the post - Carla trimmed ones were just sports seats like ...

Re: 1000 mile laser

My 186,000 mile Laser is cleaner than that under the bonnet. That rust at the top of the rear wing could be nasty if it's gone to holes, added to £700 for a front panel from Express panels. Plus for most of us there's the aggro of getting it transported from Ireland.

IMHO its worth £2,000 max.

Re: Brooklands Ford Meet 1977'

With the Cortinas, Mk 4 models could have headlight washers as an optional extra on S and Ghia models. These were of the high pressure water jet type as on a Capri and are identified by having big thick over riders on the bumpers in front of the headlamps which contained the nozzles. The Mk5 also ha...

Re: Rear wheel arches

How did you progress with this? Butt welding is preferable, as mentioned, series of spots first to prevent distortion due to too much heat. http://autoshite.com/uploads/monthly_04_2017/post-20612-0-11366500-1492260252.jpg Trying to work out what car this is - is it a MK1 Granada Ghia Coupe?
