Hi,
Great looking car!
Good work with the powder coating. Stuff like that really helps to improve the look of the engine compartment. 8-)

Re: Fuel gauge not working

I've just checked the MOT test manual, or whatever it's called, and it states that the tester is to "check that the speedometer can be illuminated". That's been in place since 2012 at least, but I've never had it mentioned before....the LEDs in my dash must be doing their job! :D

Hi Jason,
It's not just a 2.0. In my opinion, the 2 litre is as good as a 2.8, or any other Capri.... :D

Hi,
Are you sure that's not a suppressor to eliminate interference on the radio? Like this:

Re: Fuel gauge not working

Hi Peter, I'm pleased to hear that your 2.8 passed the MOT. Rob must have jinxed us all by mentioning tank senders, who will suffer the curse next? :drama: One of the things it failed on was the dash lights being really dim, so dim that you couldn't see them. I haven't heard of anybody failing on th...

Checked this & ive got less than 4 volts power. Does this mean changing the regulator as well to make it work or is there another reason for this? Sorry, not so clever with electrical side of things :) Hi Rob, It's supposed to be 5 Volts, so it sounds to me like the regulator is not working cor...

Re: Differential bearing front locking nut, Capri 2.8 1985

Hi, That torque setting seemed rather high to me, so I double checked with the Ford Capri workshop manual, and it states the same torque setting as the Haynes manual (74-88 lb ft, 100 to 120 Nm). If you are not familiar with the pinion nut tightening procedure, I would highly recommend buying a work...

Re: Differential bearing front locking nut, Capri 2.8 1985

Hi,
That is the torque listed in the Haynes manual for the "Drive pinion nut". The manual does say to check the torque of the nut before removing it. Tighten the new nut to that torque plus a further 0.15 to 0.30 lb ft to allow for the additional friction of a new seal.
