Re: 1986 Rosso Red 1.6 Laser, 39,000 Miles

Hi Russell, That really is a beautiful laser and it sounds like you will treasure it and pamper it as it deserves! The only criticism I have is that the tyres need to be dressed, but you've probably done that already! I hope you don't mind me asking, but didn't you have that stunning black 2.8 befor...

Re: 205 tyres

Hi again,
By my (quick) calculation 70 section tyres have 20mm greater radius over the 60 section tyres. Which to me seems quite a lot of extra tyre to fit in the space under the arches.
All the best,
Andrew.

Re: 205 tyres

Hi, The tyres will fit on the rims, yes. However, the circumference will be greater than with 60 section tyres. This will slightly affect gearing and will alter the speedo reading. Also, as the tyres are taller they may rub on the lip of the wheelarches on the front when turning. I'm sure somebody o...

Re: Anyone changed 1.6 pinto to a 2.0 and not told DVLA?

Hi, :agree: You definitely should tell your insurance and the DVLA, although I understand the DVLA require lots of details these days. See their website. It might be a lot of faffing about but it is sure to save a lot of aggro in the long run. Especially if the police see a yellow car that is record...

I looked up the word immaculate in the dictionary and there was a photo of your Capri as the definition.

Simply a fantastic car, enjoy!

This car gets around, doesn't it?
Any guesses where it will be for sale next?

All the best,

Re: 2.8i Restoration my project ongoing

Hi Mart, I spent quite a bit at mirage, tank straps etc.. cheers Mart Yes, I can imagine! I've looked at their website and it's possible to spend a small fortune in the engine bay. As I said before, the coil, fuel filter and tank straps look fantastic. I also agree with ghia15 that the silicone hose...

Re: Here it is again!

Hi, The mileage of this car must have doubled with all the travelling around the country it is doing! It clearly is some sort of scam, the different "sellers" always use the original photos and the listing disappears within 24 hours. I don't see how a scam would work, would anyone in...

Re: 2.8i coolant getting into sump.

Hi,
I have heard that the oil cooler can corrode on the inside if incorrect spec coolant has been used.
If correct, this may allow the water into the oil. Something to check, I suppose, if all else fails to find the solution.
All the best,
Andrew.

Re: 2.8i Restoration my project ongoing

Hi, Fantastic car you've got there. 8-) Is that Nimbus grey over Strato silver? I can see that the 18 months hard labour have been well worth it. :) Is that a Mirage stainless steel coil bracket and sleeve? I was toying with getting those myself, but I was worried that they might look a bit "Pi...

Re: Time to hit the road

Hi, Beautiful Capri you have Weebob, a head-turner and a real credit to you. 8-) Cardinal red is an unusual colour for an S, but it definitely suits the car. Some lovely photographic locations, where were they taken? That garage looks like the type of place an old chap comes out to serve you! :) All...

Re: Federal Tyres

Hi, Mytyres.co.uk have a range of tyres in this size. The federal SS-595 is listed at £63. I haven't got this brand on the car so I don't have any personal experience, but there are customer reviews on the site. The reviews aren't specific to the car or tyre size, just the brand. I hope other member...

Re: ebay Broadspeed MK1 - so nice

Hi, I bow to the superior knowledge of standard_man. I stand by what I said though, anyone spending £25,000 on a car will inspect it thoroughly and make sure it is exactly as it should be. I have just re-read the Ebay listing for this car and have discovered that the engine has a "Broadspeed an...

Re: 2.8i cooling hoses help!!!!

Hi, The Ford workshop manual also says that the oil cooler should be angled so the outlet/inlet point to around 5 o'clock (20 degrees +/- 5 degrees from vertical), but my hoses won't reach that far either! Mine point to around 7 o'clock. By the way, the other hose from the matrix goes to the auxilia...

Re: 2.8i cooling hoses help!!!!

Hi Thomas, On mine the hose from the heater matrix goes to the top one of the oil cooler, and the bottom one of the oil cooler to the T-piece near the expansion tank. At least I hope so, that's where mine go! I think that's what you mean, if you mean something else I will have another look. All the ...
