I agree, although the seller might not take too kindly to this, especially if you poke a hole in the floor! Try to do it when the seller isn't looking!

Good luck, and let us know how you get on with it!

Re: 1974 Mk2 Capri

The best way to sell a car is to advertise it in as many places as possible. I would recommend CCI magazine, Ebay classifieds, Classiccarsforsale.co.uk, Gumtree and Autotrader. The Mk2s are few and far between these days, so there's probably a buyer out there. It's just a case of pitching the car at...

Re: damp capri??

I've said my main worry is the floor. Just need to know it's weak spots. Hi, If you are able, lift the carpets to check the condition of the floor on the inside. Unscrewing the carpet retainers and releasing the carpet from the prongs under the pedals will enable you to move enough of the carpet to...

Hi,
Stunning car, can't pick fault at all. Are the photos from a professional photoshoot for a magazine?
Good luck with the sale.

I agree, you've got an amazing deal if the fascia can be changed to the Capri type. Let us know when you've fitted it.

Re: damp capri??

Hi Les, I would have to ask myself why the seller is reluctant to take the car for an MOT. Is he hiding something, or is simply too busy and doesn't have the time? I would hazard a guess that it's the former. A new MOT on the car is not a guarantee that everything is perfect, but it would certainly ...

Steve, So it is! I've pasted the wrong link in my post, and now I can't find the item I was originally looking at. Must try harder. F- Sorry! Andrew. Re: Original Radio Cassette Value?

Hi, Check this out (Right hand column, third paragraph down, about half way down the page) This is the same brochure that I have referred to. http://i836.photobucket.com/albums/zz282/mkpooks2/AUGUST%202010/16082010%20PICS/SCs%203/R0143614.jpg It's amusing to note that under the title it says that th...

Re: Original Radio Cassette Value?

I have the catalogues from June `84 and Feb.`85; both state rst21p (pbar`s pic) as fitted to laser, esrt 32ps fitted to 2.8. Additionally I bought mine (coincidentally 30 years ago to this very day!!!) and it definitely had the rst 21p fitted. Hi, That may be true for the earlier lasers, but the OP...

Re: damp capri??

Not necessarily malicious, might just not be what he would think of as "unoriginal", just a freshen up? Hi, I see what you are saying, maybe it's not malicious as such, but certainly liberal with the interpretation of the word. Don't forget that Les thinks that the front wing has been rep...

Re: Reversing light switch position

Or not...... Good call, check that it's attached first. When I first got mine the reversing lights would only work if I pushed the plug further onto the switch. During use, it would come loose and stop the reversing lights from working. I cleaned up the contacts and closed up the connectors in the ...

Re: Reversing light switch position

Hi,
On the type 9 it's on the driver's side near the back of the 'box, near where the hole for the lever is. It should be easy to identify, it will have the electrical plug attached to it with two wires coming out.

Hi,
For the replacement fascia plate, try Martin at Caprigear. He might me able to supply one, and he will definitely be able to offer correct advice.

Re: Original Radio Cassette Value?

Finally, do you reckon £75 is a good deal for it, with AM/FM and the cassette deck all working? Hi, The fascia plate should come off when the knobs are removed and the correct plate can then be fitted. If you can do that, then £75 is a cracking deal. My brochure from 1983 shows the other radio you ...

Re: damp capri??

Hi, I knew the car had been painted before I asked the guy Did the seller admit to the car being non-original afterwards? Was he misled when he bought it, or was he lying when he claimed it was original? The drivers front wing at the front is lower than the bonnet leading edge when closed and the in...

Re: Original Radio Cassette Value?

Hi,
I think that one has a different fascia plate to mine, and it doesn't have the curved top edges to fit in the dash. The Capri fascia may fit that radio, as it's the correct Ford code on the sticker. It looks like a later version to fit a different model.

Re: Original Radio Cassette Value?

Hi,
The Capri brochure FA778 from March '87 (yes, really!) states that the Laser was fitted with the ESRT32PS stereo, which is the same as the 2.8 special item in the first photo.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I would fully expect the radio in the first photo to sell for around £150 on Ebay, if fully working.

Re: damp capri??

Hi, Having actually read the Ebay listing now, I revise my opinion. The seller states that the car is "all original", but you suspect that it has been resprayed. If it has had a recent respray and fresh underseal, I would not bother as the seller looks as though he is hiding something on t...
